Rebrand it as a diet novel
Diet novel on coke.

I agree with this, and yet not. Mostly because, usually, the same books would occupy the top spots.

Plus, if you click on "view more," you can check out the hot books by more metrics, including views/popularity.
I believe that default trending is still based on views, is it not?

It is that mixed with how many comments you receive in a day and how many likes the story receives. There's also the random effect that puts a story in trending solely because it gained a bunch of readers and the algorithm deems it as a good pick.

The current trending? No. Nobody knows the math that goes into it. That is by design.

But only views are not enough. Nor readers, likes, or comments. My guess is that it is a mix of all the stats and their daily rise compared in a defined time frame. Probably taking up a whole month's worth of results.

I am 90% sure the algorithm does take time into consideration and aggregates your stats of likes, comments, and clicks, comparing them to your previous numbers to decide if you get to the top 10 of "rising" novels.

For example, someone I follow had a 3-4 month hiatus. The moment she came back, her book was trending as her released chapters got the views from us readers, and compared to her low interactions while being absent, it made the book trend.

But that is just a theory. A trending theory.

Posting an entire novel at once here is a good way to ensure it never catches on even if it's good. It will be buried because it will never end up on trending nor on the updated list on the front page.

For success here bite size chapters posted frequently is what you want to do. Try to get to daily chapters of at least 1k words or people will just complain your chapters are too short.

There are some authors that manage to gain success despite not doing these, but they are the minority and often took a long time to take off and only then did all their stories become a success because people learned their author name and started reading anything they put out.
