Hi, I never had skills from the start but more like I dont know how to start chapters anymore, I stopped writing my Novel for 3 or 4months ago due to college and also mainly because of the memorizing of things in the medical field, recently I was planning to comeback and write since I promised my readers I would finish it no matter what, but now that I came back I feel like I lost all my progress on writing how do u get it back any tips. (Tbh I already know I think, just missed doing threads lmao)

Then I pass it through Grammarly, and sometimes even get help from Chatgpt for rephrasing.

Now jokes aside, restarting your book after a long break is hard. It usually doesn't get much attention. I experienced it firsthand. Now, I will give some options, but please see other people's options as well because I am a relatively inexperienced writer compared to many active people in this forum.

A: Read your story until you remember your storyline, and write a side chapter to get used to it again.

B: Rewriting. Think of them as game remasters, the same thing, just tweaked a bit to look better.

C: Re(make)writing: Drop your current story, and start rewriting from scratch. This option is easier than it looks and sometimes even gets you more attention than before. You can even scavenge your old chapters to make things faster. But if you are going for this option, remember this; you must increase quality to bring those old readers back.

One of the most important things to start writing your chapters again is to refamiliarize yourself with the premise. What are the themes, the endgoals, the checkpoints you wish to pass that will delight both you and your reader on this journey of writing, etc? Make sure you reread and find what your characters are like, so you don't change up their personalities all of a sudden.

If you want to write, you should read a lot of the stuff you enjoy. You are bound to think of something that hasn't been properly implemented in there (according to you). Just start viewing the world through the lens of your novel since then. We get new ideas every now and then!
I hadn't written in over a decade and when I just started because I reckoned it was time. Your instance is more special than that. You've actually got a demanding audience to boot! I assume that you'd continue regardless of how you feel. If you are responsible that is.

I get you. I went on hiatus for only a month and I forget everything about the plotline. Best thing you can do is reread your chapters again.

- Reread everything from the start.
- Listen to music to inspire what you should write next.
- START AT THE END. If you write a dramatic ending, what you need to write to reach that point becomes obvious.
- ASK YOUR READERS. Set up a thread and ask your readers to theorize about what happens next.
- Get Help. Ask someone to start the next plotline for you and get it going.
- Feed it to ChatGTP. DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT SUGGESTS.
- START WRITING. ANYTHING. IT DOESN'T MATTER. If you just write, you are far more likely to get back into the grove.
- STOP POSTING ON FORUMS. It's a time suck.

Put your ass in the chair every day, for as long as you need to finish the story. I found that generating AI art for the work also helps to get one inspired. But if you don't sit down and write, well... you don't need me to tell you what happens then, right? As someone who boxed herself into finishing 3 stories after a hiatus of more than a year, I have to say, that nothing beats sitting down and writing when it comes to finishing things.

try to fuck around with stuff like ai dungeon, verb ai or chat gpt for your writings as a warm up first. go wild and put as much nonsense you want. there are many way to have fun in the writing process without actually trying your best to churn a chapter.

you probably can just bounce of any crazy ideas you have in your head and write simple one liners about them. have your favorite stories mix up with the other and you can modify any kind of aspects to spice things up.

just focus more on the aspects you find the most fun and go from there. instead of thinking of them as obligation, see it more as a way to have fun.

Chain yourself into the table with no food or water or bathroom breaks until you reached at least 500 words, repeat like 3 times a day (3 meals/3 water drink/3 bathroom breaks)

I lose my mind when I take a break for the weekend from writing.

Here’s what I advise. Go back and read your stuff and take notes as you go for stuff that’s important to you. That’s about it. Treat rather like you did with your school stuff.
