So, I'm currently on an indefinite hiatus at the moment, you know, just taking a breather, clearing my mind, that sort of thing. And when I came to check on my story, I found five(5) new 1star rating on it, all in the span of 2 days, no reviews no comments, just plain 1star ratings.

So I wanted to know whether Inactivity usually invite 1stars, or is my story just that bad. XD

Well there was some post earlier saying that there were trolls throwing 1 stars to everyone for a while. Though Tony did say he deleted those 1 Star rating, not sure it may be new accounts doing it again.

The way people do people who are on trending makes me not even want to be on the list of Top 9. I've heard numerous people who trend say their rating score starts dropping the very moment they hit trending because brand new shiny 1's start flooding from the abyss. No thanks.

Was never all that interested in trending before now, but now I KNOW im okay without it.

The more times you get into trending, usually it will also invite 1 * more rating(or 3* below) It's normal.

:blob_blank: Mystery solved. Trending gets your reliably 2 -3 1 stars per cycle.

I did went to trending 4 times, 2 times at the number 7 then 2 times at the top spot. But the 1 stars came after I went on a hiatus. So I think being on trending had nothing to do with my 1stars. Maybe some people genuinely disliked my work or were upset that I wasn't releasing any chapters?

I'm starting to think that someone's deliberately raining down these 1* stars in the hopes of affecting the 'Trending' stories.

I could be wrong though. Hopefully I am.

My 1 stars appeared a little after I stopped releasing chapters, so I think that has something to do with it

You only like stopped releasing a couple of days ago (correct me if I'm wrong), and there's a bunch of 1*?

Either you got some impatient readers or someone's trolling around.

Honestly, your story is good, so I don't think it's about that.

I never went on trending ever and got myself 4 shiny one star badges so I guess factors don't apply at all. It's all an RNG. Game was never rigged from the start. It always been 18 karats of bad luck.

I got a total of 5, 1*stars all in the span of 2 days, (this is my fourth day not releasing any chapters)

Is this for real? People actually do this? Damn
Yep. The more fans you get, the more haters you get. It happens everywhere (not only SH, not only for webnovel but also for everything)

I remember you just reached the trending spot a few days ago. Usually it takes a few days for the low rating start to appear in your place since many people binge reading a few days later and usually only occurs in novels that entered the trending spot a few times (unless your novel really upset the readers).

Low rating can also appear after you release a controversial chapter (this is a real challenge for webnovel authors because we release by chapter not a complete story).

Well, the only option to do is to ignore those * since you know how some readers can get spoiled. You may contest those ratings, but the burden of proof will fall into you. Time would be consumed in trying to prove your point when you could just have rested and write.

Your story is good, and a bunch of 1* won't destroy its potential.

I couldn't agree more in this one. I released a chapter that became quite controversial, and I got 2* stars in rating because of it. I'm unfazed though, I know my work and I'm going to write it, ratings be damned.

Maybe I should ask my readers to not give me 5 stars? LOL. Not like I'm gonna reach that dang trending thing. I like the current peaceful and quiet readers.

I think that's normal? Readers nowadays don't like plot twists. I already saw a 4.9 stars(300 ratings) drop to 4.4(800+ ratings) in just a span of a day. Well, the reason was that the protagonist lost and the readers didn't like it.

Too true, too true. Mine went from 4.8 to 4.4 in the span of two days because some readers who dropped my work didn't agree with how my MC thinks (which is based on my cultural background).

And what's amusing is that, they based their rating after reaching that controversial chapter (which is about 3-4 chapters in to the story).

Well, like what you said, I prefer those who'd stay to be chill readers, not the edgy, aggro types. Helps if you were looking for a break.
