Slap them in the face and tell them they're stupid. That they don't have a magical power or anything and just go on with life. If that doesn't work . . . Just leave it to the rest of the world to deal with.

Ah, can't wait for 10 years later so they can look back and cringe that they naruto ran to you and said "kawaiiii!!!" when a cute girl passes them.

The pain shall be legendary!!!

That isn't really a problem unless it is a detriment to their ability to function in society. Yeah, it can be problematic but either reality will set in and they'll outgrow it like me or they will stay in their fictional world as a waste of air in society like most basement-dwelling NEETs. Some things you can do is keep telling them that it isn't real or compel them to use their world as fuel for some form of creativity such as writing or painting.

Send them on an impossible quest to defeat the demon king. If it looks like they might overcome a challenge, pull the rug from under them. Raise the challenge unfairly. Move the princess to another castle. If they somehow get through everything to the end anyway, become the Demon King they can never defeat. OP powers, mid-fight power-ups as you were always holding back and nothing is your final form, unexpected reinforcements and in the end, when he finally deals a mortal blow to you, the princess backstabs them in a romantic moment as they kiss in the pool of oozing dark, demonic blood and lives happily ever after with the magically preserved corpse of the demon lord, waiting for the day his soul comes back from the dead while the hero-skeleton-chandelier shines on them from above.

Everyone around them treats them as if the powers are not real and it does not work, so I say fight fire with fire.

I absolutely hate how so many people are advocating for violence in this thread. Like, chill. Even for a joke it's not okay. We've all gone through really embarrassing phases when we were younger, and physical violence wouldn't have gotten any of us to stop.

My friend is a chuunibyou. I want to help them, how do I help them?

As to the original question: help how? Because just being a good friend regardless of cringy things will last a lifetime. It will also give you lots to tease and joke about later in life.

Cherish your friends.

oh it would certainly have. that's why bullying is a necessity. what's really cringe though is your need to virtue signal even when you clearly recognize these as jokes

Harm principle, let them be unless they start to cause havoc to their surrounding.

Either they understand that escaping from reality is impossible and everyone needs to join hands in the purgatory or they can chunni even harder and watch their world comes apart even harder like repeated drug offenders.

Or you know, just maintain a level of functionality and no one will care about the bunny ear lawyer.

Act as an even bigger Chuuni than them.

The best way to stop delusional people is to get them to accept reality by either talking sense into them or by showing them an even bigger embarrassment so they notice how much shit they actually did on their own.

If it doesn't work, at least you have some fun stories to tell.

Broken bones might heals, so you should go for his/her mentality. Made that little shit cringe so hard that even if she/he died, his future reincarnation would harden in response to mental trauma the moment he/she touched anything weeb-related.
