Help with Sitting Position's description!

I'm currently struggling with the position of the characters take.
I'm doing a fanfic on AO3 and don't want to publish the current draft I got ready because of this sentence...
"---- ------ edgley backward chair-sits, waving his arms down. He started smirking in the teenager’s direction, watching him struggle from the binds restricting him from freeing himself."
I circled how the character is sitting but reading the sentence again, it just doesn't seem right to me.
Please help! I will be very grateful for the one who will fix up this line, I really can't seem to think in what way should I fix this.

"Straddling on a chair," or simply "Sitting on a chair backward."

Here's a line from my book: "The three girls sat in the inn room: Kiyomi and Sako each sat backwards on a chair, feet apart around the chairbacks with hands resting on top."

He stared at the seated teenager struggling to take his binds off. He was enjoying his discomfort and proceeded to straddle a chair facing him.

‘Just need a popcorn for this.’ He couldn’t help but chuckle.
