Well, I've received your answer, dude. :blob_dizzy:
Your score is 60/100. Your perception is quite good. Congratulations.:blob_party:

Your feedback points out the misidentification of Sira and Veyna, which is a weakness in my narrative (a previous respondent also had difficulty distinguishing Sira and Veyna due to insufficient narrative distance and character identity).:blob_hmm: Thank you for your feedback.:blob_aww:

Best regards.

Some of the answers were pure guesses, others I genuinely did not know, and I tried to guess through the process of elimination. I think this quiz would have been more accurate and harder if you hadn't provided answers. If I didn't have those, I probably could have only answered like two or three questions, I think.

Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability after reading the above chapter in one go. The questions are:

1. Who was hit by the forbidden magic's backlash? Answer choices: a) Sira

2. Who is in conflict with Noire? Answer choices: a) Reynard

3. What color is Veyna's hair? Answer choices: b) Blue

4. Who looks the youngest? Answer choices: d) Lett (who the f*** is Lett? I can't remember her at all, so I am just guessing, because I think the others are not young from what I remember.)

5. Who was the leader of the party? Answer choices: d) Noire

6. Who gave the order to use forbidden magic to destroy the city's infrastructure? d) Elvyn

7. Who suffered the most? Answer choices: b) Sira (Kinda subjective, I mean Sira suffered, but apparently the townspeople as well... since she is in a coma, I choose Sira.

8. Who knocked Reynard to the ground? Answer choices: a) Noire (Total blank here... he fought Noire, so it must be her?)

9. Who uses the forbidden magic, the white flame, [Cold Fire]? Answer choices: c) Sira

10. Who has the unique skill [Eyes of Birds]? Answer options: c) Veyna (I can't remember the name, but I remember reading something about her eyes)

Additional (optional): 11. Explain one reason why the character you chose is the most memorable for you?

Noire, since she is obviously in charge, talks the most and is clearly the center of the chapter.

Perfect. Your score is 100/100. All answers are correct.

Well, I provided answer options to make it easier to answer.

Psychologically, by reading once, readers only remember the information in short-term memory (similar to RAM). Often readers don't remember names but readers know the association and identity of the name to the character.

By providing names for the options, the questions are more focused, although it is true that this method still has biases and weaknesses such as random answers or guesswork that can be correct but do not reflect anything. :blob_hmm:

In the end... I chose convenience over perfection in the data collection methodology. Thank you for your feedback. :blob_aww:

Sure, I’ll help!
I’m going to read this after work tomorrow, since I’m sleepy and struggling to stay awake. That way I can give clear answers and feedback ?
I've got the page open on my laptop, but need to get some sleep at the moment.
I'll try to get to it at least sometime tomorrow El.
You can take your time anytime. Have a nice day. Best regards:blob_salute:

Keep in mind, I read this chapter, knowing that a test would come.
Edit: I'm curious, are you going to post this as a chapter or is it really just an experiment?

1. Who was hit by the forbidden magic's backlash? Answer choices: a) Sira b) Commander Feroux c) Veyna d) Elvyn e)................

2. Who is in conflict with Noire? Answer choices: a) Reynard b) Veyna c) Feroux d) Serena e)................

3. What color is Veyna's hair? Answer choices: a) White b) Blue c) Brown d) Black e)................

4. Who looks the youngest? Answer choices: a) Veyna b) Sira c) Reynard d) Lett e)................

5. Who was the leader of the party? Answer choices: a) Feroux b) Serena c) Reisa d) Noire e)................

6. Who gave the order to use forbidden magic to destroy the city's infrastructure? a) Noire b) Feroux c) Reynard d) Elvyn e)................

7. Who suffered the most? Answer choices: a) Noire b) Sira c) townspeople d) Reynard e)................(I think the townspeople suffered the most, but Noire, as the person carrying out such a command, could feel very responsible and get sick, even though this doesn't seem like her. Still, it would be one life against many.)

8. Who knocked Reynard to the ground? Answer choices: a) Noire b) Feroux c) Serena d) Lett e)................(The combat didn't feel very clear to me)

9. Who uses the forbidden magic, the white flame, [Cold Fire]? Answer choices: a) Veyna b) Noire c) Sira d) Lett e)................

10. Who has the unique skill [Eyes of Birds]? Answer options: a) Sira b) Noire c) Veyna d) Lett e)................

Additional (optional): 11. Explain one reason why the character you chose is the most memorable for you?
Noire is the most memorable for me, because she was the center of the scene and had the most "screentime".

Perfect. You scored 100/100. Congratulations. :blob_party:

Did you read this assuming it was a test?! It might have a slight effect. You're mentally focusing on 'remembering' the narrative, not reading it in a relaxed state.

But it won't have a significant impact if you only read it once.

Even if you read very focused... a narrative with poor character management risks creating a blurred perception for the reader.

The purpose of this feedback is to measure how character management in a chapter can maintain the reader's perception in identifying the characters in the story.

Thank you for your feedback. :blob_aww:

Best regards.

Note:
The Noire vs. Reynard conflict scene is not a fight... it is just a physical clash or a small brawl that is common in real debates.

The narrative was written as a tense debate, not a biting fight. So, it's understandable if you feel the fight is less felt.

Sorry, I'd like to trouble you @Nevafrost @Louhi @MFontana @Envylope @CinnaSloth @unlaumy @A-Random-Writer @Rachel_Leia_Cole @empalgepuk with a narrative experiment about readers' perceptions of characters in a dense chapter. :blob_aww:
I'm definitely gonna take the test in my lunch break-nya!
@Eldoria (had to mention you because my answer was merged into my previous reply lol)

Noire was the most memorable for me. She appeared as a cold, selfish character to me lol. Dunno the reason
This answer might be useless for you as I have jellyfish memory. And, I'm a quite a fast reader, so I often ignore informations like hair color and stuffs hehe.

I've reviewed your test. The result is... 60/100. Your perception is quite good. Congratulations. :blob_party:

Do you think your memory is like a jellyfish?! Please don't underestimate yourself. This result shows that your perception is quite good.

If this is read by readers who like short video content (fanatically, not just like it)... they probably won't be able to read 1k words.

Not everyone likes to read. If you can read fiction and enjoy it, then you are already on the spectrum above the average literacy of the general public.

Besides, honest feedback is what I'm looking for.

Thank you for your feedback. :blob_aww:

Best regards.

4. Who looks the youngest? Answer choices: a) Veyna b) Sira c) Reynard d) Lett

(I don't really remember this part, but I'm 100% sure it's Lett. It's from her flustered act in front of Noire. She's surely shown as not particularly mature in age/experience as far as I can remember)

5. Who was the leader of the party? Answer choices: a) Feroux b) Serena c) Reisa d) Noire

(Also, can't remember anything about this Feroux guy)

6. Who gave the order to use forbidden magic to destroy the city's infrastructure? a) Noire b) Feroux c) Reynard d) Elvyn

7. Who suffered the most? Answer choices: a) Noire b) Sira c) townspeople d) Reynard

(If it's between the story main cast, surely Sira, but townspeople)

8. Who knocked Reynard to the ground? Answer choices: a) Noire b) Feroux c) Serena d) Lett

9. Who uses the forbidden magic, the white flame, [Cold Fire]? Answer choices: a) Veyna b) Noire c) Sira d) Lett

Noire. From the start, there's a focus of her emotions through her body gestures. She's absolutely the main character in this chapter, with her being in the various scenes with Reisa/Veyna/Sira, Lett/herself, and Reynard/Serena. It also helps that each scene deals with different 'sides' of her. I particularly like the Lett/Noire scene. Unlike other scenes where readers experience is a little impended from missed context, Lett/Noire scene doesn't give you that. It's smooth, letting a hint that there's something between them (at least Lett to Noire) without as much as making readers think that this unknown information is from a missed context.

Mind you.. I was instructed to only read once, and not to repeat reading. -But I'm also dyslexic, and have a horrible time reading once over.
Same reason why editing my drafts is a huge pain in the ass. :blobreading: ? ?? lol

1. Who was hit by the forbidden magic's backlash?
a) Sira

2. Who is in conflict with Noire?
a) Reynard?

3. What color is Veyna's hair?
b) Blue

4. Who looks the youngest? Answer choices:
b) Sira
-in my dyslexic mind at least: She was hit by an effect that is well-known, and treatable; Most adults would know this, and be weary. I tagged her with being 'naive', and a bit 'foolish', interpreting it as she wasn't ready for what was to transpire if she ignore that piece of knowledge, like a rebellious child; "Unaware of the consequences of her own actions" type deal. So, she seemed the youngest in my eyes.

5. Who was the leader of the party?
-There was a party?? Are you asking about the festival?? I don't know what you mean, but I'll assume you mean Reynard being the captain person.. I guess?? Confused. Unless you mean Noire being Commander, though I'll be honest, don't know what comes first in the hierarchy: commander, or captain. Reynard just felt more official than Noir. Although Noir felt more powerful despite rank.

6. Who gave the order to use forbidden magic to destroy the city's infrastructure?
c) Reynard?
-i think.. I got lost. I'm not entirely sure. Things started to blur.

7. Who suffered the most?
a) Noire
-having to talk to Reynard for so long.

8. Who knocked Reynard to the ground?
a) Noire?
-I don't know for sure. I'm guessing now. I just assume Noir because they were talking for so long and I might have missed that part.

9. Who uses the forbidden magic, the white flame, [Cold Fire]?
-I don't know. I'm assuming Sira because Veyna used the ability below, and I don't remember seeing [Cold Fire] literally anywhere... and was forbidden to reread things.

10. Who has the unique skill [Eyes of Birds]?
c) Veyna

Additional (optional): 11. Explain one reason why the character you chose is the most memorable for you?
--> Personally:
Veyna because in my head she looked/reminded me of someone else, and that's just how I associated her.

--> Narrative-wise:
Noir, easily. The mainly because of her strong, no-nonsense... aura? ...She had one of the larger roles within the chapter; Obvious Mc vibes.

--> Memory-wise:
The Doctor. Who I Kept wanting to call Reina, but I believe is Reisa. She had the smoothest introduction in my very personal opinion (aside from obvious: Sira, and Veyna, because they were the first two).
With the others it felt like it was: NAME! Remember it! They are x-character, and this is why they are important! -story continues.. and it was a lot to try, and process without being able to reread anything.

I also noticed your writing style kind of throws me off with floating dialogues that don't feel as though they belong to anyone, and have to read further to realize "oh, this person said that, not this person." but then also being barred from re-reading to clarify didn't help.

It wasn't bad, it's just a style choice I tend to, personally, shy away from.
What you have is nothing like that, and I appreciate things being spaced out, it makes things easy to read, but separating a person's actions, and that very same person's dialogue makes me feel as though we moved FROM them to another person entirely, when in reality we're still following the exact same person. But like I said, that's just personal nitpicking; What you have is fine.
There are other writers I've read that combine MULTIPLE characters's movements, and actions, and thoughts into single paragraphs, but separate dialogues without saying who said what -and THAT is impossible to read.

After thoughts:
Pretty sure... I failed the biology test, Your Honor. :blob_cringe::blob_cringe::blob_cringe:

edit-- I don't know why it keeps adding the double spoiler. but it annoys me..

Well, your test result is clearly 60/100. Your perception is quite good. Don't look at the score, okay? Two other people also have similar scores... and the average person probably wouldn't stick around until the end of the chapter. Congratulations! :blob_party:

I welcome your criticism and feedback. This chapter was indeed designed to be character-heavy. Even with a lot of characters... if a casual reader can read it in one go and still understand the characters, plot, and conflict, then I think that's the minimum threshold for a fiction to be considered 'readable'. :blob_cookie:

My goal is to write a fictional narrative that is worth reading even by casual readers. And so far... the results are not bad, although there are still some structural weaknesses.

Thank you for your feedback. :blob_aww:

Best regards.
