I showed my new title to my sister, and she absolutely hated it. Apparently, I shouldn’t make up my own words and stick to whatever attracts readers more. The reason why I changed the title in the first place is because I wanted it to be more thematic with the characters. I also had another in mind before dropping it (it had a title based on my fictional isekai realm of the same name).

Would love to hear your thoughts on all of them. If none of them work, I’ll ask some suggestions.

I like the new title, the Pridemonger. Along with the description, it sounds like a great story :blob_okay:

At the same time, I like the clarification in the brackets because it will indeed attract more readers, especially if you post on RR too

These are only my personal perspectives and honest first thoughts:

1) - It didn't grabbed my attention at all.
2) - Simple yet made me curious. (but the brackets put me off. That is a me problem, I dislike the current trend of explaining stories in their titles)
3) - It is also a good title but I like the 2nd option more. Leaves more for my imagination and curiosity which makes me read something.
4) - Sounds like a book from the library I was sent to retrieve for a study session.

The first and fourth honestly feel too clinical(mind you I kinda like the fourth, but i don'tthink most people would,) so it's really down to the 2 and 3rd. I'm leaning more to two, but honestly both work.

Alright, after being back from dinner, it appears I’ve found a median from all your opinions:

Pridemonger [A Meta Isekai Story]

Don't get me wrong, I liked the Parallaxis title too, but I wanted the character thematics to stick while gaining decent views from RR. And don't worry, I'll still keep the title description in my synopsis.

I don't know what others would say, but, in my opinion, you've picked the worst combination.

I got a wacky idea, Pridemonger's Parallaxis [A Meta Isekai Story]
Honestly, that sounds more like a story about an alien overlord and a planet they rule with an iron fist. That would be a pretty good sci-fi isekai novel, but that idea will have to be on the drawing board for now.

So, uh… any suggestions?
Dude, I have no idea what your story is about. You gave me titles. I need a plot.

Flip the script is about Reverse morality world.

Hara-kiri nonfeasance is about people repeatedly failing to self delete.

I was summoned was about someone getting summoned.

What is the story about?

Alright, in a nutshell, the story is about a prideful and bloodthirsty MC who worships combat. He’s also the strongest “hero” in canon.

The MC reads a prophecy from a tapestry hidden in the home of a former king. Said king turns out to be an archmage in the capital, and these guys represent the three major cities they were from (I call them the Prosperity Triangle). The MC is also an archmage, representing the capital, and the prophecy states that he’s destined to beat the ever living life out of the former king, who turns out to be a Kirito expy.

Complicated as shit? You better believe it is, and that’s why I chose Parallaxis as a possible title. It’s just the name of the realm they’re living in a la Discworld.

Okay. A good title has multiple meanings. It doesn't have to, but it helps.

Parallax is what you use to determine the distance to something. So you are talking about determining distance. Or we can make it where you are trying to figure out where you are going, or where something is that you are trying to find.

We have a prophecy, so now we are dealing with time. So time and Parallax would indicate that we are determining the future, but there has to be at least two points in time to determine what the future will be.

You have a triangle, which is what a parallax needs to figure out the distance to an object.

We also have the Hero, who is the strongest. However, that's dull. We need to have that two points in the Hero's life for there to be the means of using temporal parallax to determine the future. We got two archmages, but that doesn't continue our theme of trianglation. You will have to have a third one, either a future or past version of one of the two archmages, or a third one entirely.

YOUR TITLE IS A PLEDGE.

You pledge something to your audience with your title. If you want people to read, you need to PROMISE THEM SOMETHING.

So, off the top of my head: The Parallaxed Archmage
---
Been giving it some more thought.
Dunno how much of the story is written, but I find prophecy to be dull. So, sticking to your theme, lets put a new spin on it.

There are no singular prophecies. All prophecies happen in tandem. At the same time, but in two completely different parts of the planet, a prophecy happens. Two of them. Two halves. They cannot come true until one person knows both. One prophecy, the one we tell the reader, is happy. The second, ooo. That one is SO BAD, the person who had the prophecy knows, this can never come to pass. And you can make it complicated, or simple. I like this one:

"You are the last hero".

Ooo... now doesn't THAT suck? And whomever knows BOTH prophecies becomes the LAST HERO. So the first half, awesome sunshine and kittens, then, oh, by the way. THE WORLD IS GOING TO UNDERGO SOME SORT OF SEISMIC SHIFT AND WHOLE HERO SYSTEM THING IS BORKED.

Why you need both prophecies to be known by one person? It's basically Temporal Parallax. You need two points in space knowing the distance and angles to determine the distance to a third, so in order to know the future, you need two points in TIME and CULTURE to predict the future.

Hope that helps your theme.

Wow, you actually predicted the core theme of my story: fate. Yes, that’s right. It’s cliché as all heck, but I love dabbling with the idea, especially when two or more characters have prophecies of their own. Also, I should’ve disclosed yesterday that archmage is just a title. About three are permitted from the Prosperity Triangle as delegates of their respective city, and they all live in the capital. The capital has their own three delegates, which the MC is the de facto leader (they’re also his siblings, albeit non-related).

In fact, I put huge emphasis on titles in my novel in general. Every important character has a moniker given to them for their deeds and actions. Every archmage delegate in the capital is also an heir to their respective Houses (mind the H) where they all command a mage brigade as large as a small country’s military.

I aptly named my MC “Peerless Champion,” because not only is he the strongest “hero” in canon, but he also wasn’t of showing it to everyone. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be the prideful and bloodthirsty archmage who just so happens to have a close-knit family.

All in all, this is why I chose “Pridemonger: A Story of Violence & Family” as a potential title. While fate, prophecy, and titles have astronomical emphasis in my novel, I decided to focus more on the characters. It doesn’t mean there’s little to no worldbuilding, however. Far from it, really.
