Hey guys, can anyone tell me how I can add a footnote on this platform? I thought it'd be like Ms Word but good grief was I mistaken.

I pressed the footnote button and got this....

I really don't know what to do from here. Tried adding text too but that flopped. I want those kinds of footnotes which will take you directly to the end of the page or whatever.

Does anyone know how to do it? Please help

Not sure but it should like markdown-like thingy where the site will process the special text and format it accordingly. Write between [modern_footnote] here [/modern_footnote] thingy
Here's how it is done with author notes

I am more interested what a not modern footnote looks like

the draft doesn't even have hyperlink function, so I don't think you can make a footnote which able to direct you to the end page.

As how to do the modern footnote, place the footnote right beside the word/sentence you want, then write down the explanation between them. If you done it right, then it should show up as superscript just like in ms. word. But it doesn't direct you to other section, rather gives you a pop-up with your explanation.

A not so modern footnote would be what the OP ask for in this case.

At most, we have
They also do not suffer from the problems of traditional footnotes, where the reader have to scroll down to the author’s note, find the specific footnote, read the description, then scroll back to where he was.

This footnote of SH you can find more instruction here.

It works like this

Hello [modern_footnote] a way of greeting [/modern_footnote]

This will show as

“Hello” with a “1” as superscript. Click on the “1” will show “a way of greeting”.

Once you publish the page, highlight the text at the bottom of the page, then right click. There should be an option that says "Copy link to highlight". Go back into the editor, then create a hyperlink using the link to highlight. Repeat the other way around so they can quickly return to the starting point.

Congrats, you made a ridiculously stupid and overcomplicated footnote.
