I know that its never going to happen that everyone is going to like everything a persons written, taht's a given. But I do find it strange that some people assume that everything you write is the same. I have two very different stories on here and someone who was clearly just looking for something to fap to slated all my writing because of a single shock scene.

Not only did they miss the point of the shock scene, they kinda missed the point of the whole story and got all the details mixed up suggesting that they didn't actually read all of it anyway.

I find it both irritating and amusing that they left a low score review of the story one day, then clearly came back and read more before editing the review and leaving more comments and slating all my writing. - it was clearly good enough to hook them back! they accused me of not writing tags properly too wich it annoyijng because they haven't posted any writing here so they clearly have no idea how it works AND who says that their way of tagging things is the only "correct" way anyway?

The irritating part about it is that (as I mentioned) the other piece on here is very different but it has been written off by them without the look (I believe) it deserves.

Yes some of my writing does deal with delicare issues like self harm, suicide and rape. BUT not all of it does and surely as writers it is our job to make people think is it not?

That is why people put the warnings and hard-hitting tags into the synopses too.

I checked, and his main problem was he did not read your tags. So it is a user error in my eyes; you did tag your story clearly for everyone to see what is going to be in it. Sadly, most people miss them most of the time. You can do nothing about it; that is just how it is. :blob_neutral:

It even sucks when you put a content warning in both the chapter and the description and people still complain

I just read your story. Yeah, no amount of tags currently on SH can prepare anyone for it.

I do think that sadly all rating systems devolve into if I like it, it's 5*, if I hate it, it's 1*.

Most people won't rate something that's technically excellent fairly, if it's not to their taste, or give something they like a deserved low score. Though rating everything a person has done based on one example does seem to be taking that premise a bit far.

But yeah, welcome to the internet. As long as you have people that treat your stuff fairly, you're just going to have to disregard those that don't, as no method known to man, god or the devil can stop people being... well, people on the internet.

Those of you that have read the story and commented on here, thanks. I wasn't expecting that.

The thing is that its there for a reason and I don't wanna give spoilers as to why though they should be easy enough to figure out when you consider the character of the - ah character.

I don't understand why you would slate everything a writer has written though. I mean in the UK there was a very famous childrens writer who also wrote some insanely weird stuff that was adapted into a tv series called "tales of the unexpected" which had to be put on after the 9pm watershed because it definitely wasn't suitable for children. In America the author Alan Dean Foster, wrote Alien and some funny one shots like "Glory Lane" and "Cat-a-lyst" Of course theres the obvious example to end all examples too, Steven King, he has written in about every genre there is! Surely you need to read a bigger sample than one story of a writers pieces before you can decide you hate all their writing no?
