"A good poem should be concrete." (Based out of something real and not your imagination.) That bit of college course advice enforced by a grading system screwed up my writer's voice and style for years... That was when I lost faith in any education system that claims to teach you about art, precisely because they try to fit it into a system which ultimately kills it.
also for me, the worst writing advice can be anything that doesn't align with how you do things or make you feel worse when writing.
one of them is sticking to certain schedule instead of just writing when i'm in the mood. it never seems to work and forcing it just feels really unpleasant.
“You see… I have a lot of things I want done. Since you trust my advice, you’ll help me out… right? I’m sure things will work out after you’ve followed my plan. It’ll all be fine. Trust me- No, I guess you already do.” —Older sister.
