Hello, on SH I’m known more as a forum user than author, and there is a reason for that. I end up killing almost all of my projects when in their very early stages. Despite that I have plenty of projects that I’ve made art for but never ended up releasing. I thought now might be a good time to let some of these projects see the light of day.

To the best of my ability I’m going to list these stories in chronological order of their (attempted) creation

Story 1 Dec-Jan 2023-2024

After posting my abandoned story, and subsequent short story in 2022 I took about a year break from writing, which resumed in December 2023 when I began working on my next story.

This story was a gender bender magical girl story, which is not much of an original concept. The difference being this story had a military setting and while in a fictional setting was highly inspired by the 1993 Gulf War/Operation Desert Storm. That concept might sound crazy, but it’s been over a year since I did anything with it so I wont go into too much detail here.

I did make art for this story, quite a bit actually, but honestly I don’t want to show it because it’s not very good. I did post one bit of the concept art on my SH forum profile, so if you scroll back enough you should be able to find it.

Eventually this story was dropped, because I simply wasn’t very good at writing. Because I wasn’t good, I could improve at fast rate, so by the time I finished a couple chapters, there would be a noticeable difference in quality and I’d want to rewrite the beginning again.

Story 2 Feb-Mar 2024

After abandoning my magical girl story I thought to try my hand at a more serious story.

At the time I was annoyed at very pro monarchy state of fantasy stories, so I started writing a story about to-monarchist terrorist/freedom fighters

The story took place in giant city, the largest in the setting. Think warhammer 40K hive city but 1800th century tech and fantasy. The mc was a knight character from the upper city, who was exiled to the lower levels after having a sexual relationship with a noble’s daughter. It is from there he is recruited by a girl inspired by the piper of Hamelin who can control animals (mostly rats in the dirty lower city) using music.

There was more art from this story, but I wasn’t able to find it. Since my data is so messy it’s probably not lost, just hard to find. The art was also the reason I dropped this story, I wanted each chapter to have at least 2 drawings each, and doing such in detail and shading, quickly burnt me out.

Story 3 ??? Winter 2024

After dropping the serious story I went back to ol' reliable gender bender.

This story recycled a bunch of the world building I created for story 2.

This story was about a guy who wanted to be a mage, but had a body incapable of developing magical talent. Instead he learns alchemy which does not require him to manipulate magic. Sooner or later he figures out how to use alchemy to recreate his body into a form that can use magic, and he does just that. The problem being that although he gets a body great at handling magic, it also turns him into a woman.

This story had only 1 piece of art, and I know I still have it, I just need to find it. I’ll post it later when I do.

Ultimately this story was canned because I had a good beginning planned out, and a good middle section, but could find no great way to connect them, and ultimately I lost interest

Story 4 ??? (Winter - Spring) 2024

This is where I start getting a little hazy on the timeline.

This was a story I originally conceptualized on the forums, and was encouraged to write by other users.

The story was an Isekai comedy, with a straight man main character. The concept was basically “what if a character from a dark fantasy story was isekai’d into a typical generic harem isekai setting.“ Think about taking Guts from Berserk and putting him in Konosuba.

This story was when I created one of my favorite characters the cursed swordswoman. It was also one of the reasons I dropped this story. Pretty much I liked the cursed swordswoman more than any of the main characters, and writing her was the only part of writing I really enjoyed, so I shelved the idea, and decided to reuse the concept later.

Pls someone reply. I can’t add new posts without it just editing this. And I can’t add more 5 media links per post

Story 5 Spring 2024 - My Childhood friend is the ultimate weapon

This story was the first one that came far enough along that I had a name figured out.

Like the magical girl story it was set in a fictional 21st century world (think ace combat or one punch man). The story was about a regular kid and his neighbor/childhood friend. The story went that 18 years ago humanity tried to create an ultimate weapon using self replicating nano machines, but was unable to control it, and could only destroy it after nuking an entire densely populated city.

Unbeknownst to the world there was two ultimate weapons. Each carried out by separate teams with different strategies on how to control it. While the first 1 failed, the second team transformed the nano machines swarm into a human child, and planned to raise it gradually while teaching it human values. After the failure of the first project they are ordered to destroy it, but unknown to all the young scientist tasked with destroying it steals the baby, and raises it as her daughter.

The plot begins during a monster attack, a driver is knocked unconscious and almost hits the mc, in the moment of distress fml reawakens her abilities and and saves him, also defeating the monster attacking the city,

Ultimately this story was killed for two reasons. 1st being, I dropped my iPad and broke it. Because I was too miserly to get an apple cloud subscription I lost the layer files for the drawings. The second was I teased the concepts on the forums, and the only response I got was someone telling me it ’sounds like shit’ which kinda destroyed my confidence on the subject.

I plan to continue later, in more posts. But for now I’ll leave it here since I’m gonna go eat. I’ll upload the rest of the stories soon.

Story 6 - Early Summer 2024

I’ll be honest with you, this is probably my most creatively bankrupt story, on the list.

This story had a beginning concept stolen from one of my favorite jp light novels.

Basically mc is a prince of a country, and there is a costly fight for succession that he doesn’t want to be a part of. So he takes a vow of a knight errant and pledges to go on a quest and not return til he has the blessing of one of the great spirits (this part I stole from the Warhammer Bretonia lore) That was about it.

This is the only art I have for the story. Eventually I abandoned it, because it was just too bland, and everything I planned that had substance wasn’t going to come until much later in the story. Still like my other fantasy stories, I kept a lot of the world building stuff to use in my later works.

Story 7 - Mid Summer 2024 - Return of the August witch.

After writing a couple serious stories, and a couple gender bender ones I finally thought why not just combine the two? So this was my attempt at a serious and emotional gender bender story.

The story follows an old wizard named Nero. When he was young he was in love with a witch named Circe who studied under the same master as him. Eventually shit happens and evil bad guy threatens to crash the moon into the planet. Circe who is a much stronger mage uses all her abilities to destroy the moon and suspend it in orbit, but doing such also uses all her remaking life force.

Before she can die Nero freezes her body in a magic crystal, and spends the next 60 years of his life trying to find a way to save her. Eventually he finds a way, and preforms a ritual that will replace her depleted life energy with his, reviving her but sacrificing himself. But the ritual doesn’t go as planned and he takes over the body of Circe. Despite that he can still feel a fragment of her will, and is urged to continue their mission, which he had abandoned over the last several decades.

This story had a couple of issues that led to me leaving it. First, it was my first story with an overpowered mc (the fml from the ultimate weapon story could have been op, but never got far enough along in the story to see it), as such it was hard for me to adequately challenge the mc or create tension. Another big issue was as a novice I equated purple prose with emotion, and as such the story moved very slowly. There were other issues but those were the main ones

Bonus Stage! Mid summer ideas.

These are stories that only ever appeared in drawings, I had a vague idea of what they would be, but they never went past my sketch pad. These sketches in particular were also victims of my tablet dying

Vietnam War inspired isekai

Those among you who have been in the forum long enough should know there was no way I would post an ideas thread without at some point talking about fighter jets.

This story was an isekai set in a world with Cold War era magi-tech. The story would have been about a modern day fighter pilot getting isekai’d to a different world, and getting involved in a war between human‘s and elves.

The reason this story died was because I realized ‘wait, I don’t want to write an isekai, I just want to draw cool helicopters and gun boats‘

Magic Fantasy Detective Story

This one is probably my most underdeveloped out of all the ideas I’ll post in this thread. It was only really a passing thought and I never put any words to paper, or in my case google docs. I don’t even remember any of the plot for this one all that remains is a single unfinished picture.

This one was killed for similar reasons. I realized, ‘I like the idea of writing a fantasy detective novel, but I do not like the physical process of writing a fantasy detective novel.‘

So many projects started and abandoned.

The tell-tale signs of an intrinsically motivated brain.

Stimulate by:
-New
-Interesting
-Challenging
-Urgent

Feels like forcing yourself to stick to a strict deadline might help. Because clearly when things aren't new and interesting anymore they get dropped. And while writing certainly can be challenging, there is also a certain degree of "I know how to solve this, at this point it's just effort".

There's a secret 5th motivator that tends to work well with brains like these:

Spite.

Technically that's an extrisinc motivator: proving others wrong.
"You'll never finish a story, just all your other abandoned projects."

...!

ORLY?!
