Good idea?

A man dies, and gets eaten by a demon. However, some time later, he manages to eventually detach himself from the demon only to discover he is now a cloud of spite with only one eye. The original demon cloud with thousands of eyes tries to reabsorb him, but he escapes by jumping into a strange glowing circle that turns out to be a summoning spell from an evil necromancer.

The necromancer is a wizard who wants a demonic familiar to help him take over the kingdom that he lives in. The necromancer has a laundry list of issues that he has with the kingdom he is trying to destroy by causing the world to get overrun by demons. The MC, as a mini-demon cloud/familiar plays along, but because he remembers still being human, tries to help the necromancer work through his (or her) trauma and heal his emotional scars. In the process, the necromancer inadvertently becomes a hero.

Good idea? If so, any suggestions?

Pretty interesting imo.

You could put a romantic plot here, where the demon wants to kill some guys because they hurt the necromancer, but the neceomancer stops the demon and becomes a misunderstood hero.

Isn't that cliche, come to think of it? Maybe. But you should think about the goals of the necromancer beyond taking over the kingdom, as well as goals of the demon. There can be a whole lot different reasons as to why the necromancer becomes the hero, and if the demon was that reason, be it because of love or something else, it could become a fantastic psychological story.

Yes. The actual heroes journey has been done a thousand times, so the focus would be on the psychology of the relationship, more than the fate of the kingdom.

Then the make or break of the story isn't what garden of eyes familiar the MC may or may not be, but what actually drives the necromancer, as well as what kind of person the MC was before his death and how that would interact with his summoner's drives.

Post a writing prompt and get other authors to write stories based on them and readers to comment on them! Hopefully as authors, you can get inspirations from this.

Other people can use this as well. Like, it's just a kernel of an idea and not something I'm planning on writing any time soon. I have like... two dozen "Book Seeds" in a folder. If there is to be no discussion about a "Writing Prompt", why have a forum for them at all? if there is no point in responding to the idea and commenting on:

A) If you like it.
B) What ideas you would add to it.

Then why even post the idea? Every idea in the 'Writing Prompt' forum should ask these two questions.

I would agree, The general forum would be the area to post. However, I have a kernal of an idea. I might use it someday. If someone else wants it, go with your bad self. However, I am curious if this sort of idea has any impression on people. So I asked the questions.

What is a discussion?
It's when you take in and consider many other ideas.

What is a prompt?
It is a command.

When you discuss, you request for additional input. Whether it be additional ideas, opinions, or suggestions.

When you give a prompt, you are telling others this something must be done. You do not ask for input, you are asking for something to be done. Ai-chan did not create the concept of 'writing prompt'. This 'writing prompt' concept has been in use for at least decades. It's a common game prompted by authors to other authors in order to increase each other's writing skills.

The novels and mangas Only Sense Online and To Aru Ossan both came out of a writing prompt. The writing prompt was: "Write a story set in a deep dive virtual reality game where players can use skills called Sense to play the game. The main characters must choose trash skills but turns out the trash skills are actually niche skills."

If you do not know what a writing prompt is, ask. Don't assume you know. It's a specific concept. You should not need to ask if it's a good idea of if anyone have any suggestion. That's not what a writing prompt is.

1. Write about the grief of a mother. The mother has two children and one just died. (prompt)
2. A mother just lost her child. What should the author focus on and what else should be included? (discussion)

tldr: A writing prompt is when you give an idea and the rules. That's where the role of you as the initiator stops, except perhaps to enforce the rules. You do not ask for opinion. It's up to the individual authors to run with the idea now.

I like the idea, the demon form that he takes of a cloud with an eye just sounds like kracko from Kirby so it's pretty funny to me.
