My husband feels the same way. I don't pay much attention to those things, personally.

meh, fuck it there's a lot of legit older stuff I haven't perused yet, and lotsa independant folk with honest and colorful imaginations I'd rather turn my eye to. If Hollywood and Disney(ffs Benderless futuruma, let dead dogs rest dude) and games companies etc. wanna be creatively bankrupt and cash in while 'improving' on succesfull IP's like the corporate whores they are, let 'em. Only sets the stage for actual creative folk and companies to get more exposure as ppl grow tired of rehashed bullshit.

Yeah, these folk got market monopoly now, but by their actions they sure don't seem to want to maintain it. We'll see in a decade I guess, maybe I'm wrong and nothing will change.

Columbo one of my favorite tv shows of all time had a sort of soft reboot where the show returned for several more seasons after a long break, though it kept the same lead actor and continuity. I personally consider some of the later episodes to be some of the best of the series.

Also maybe the original ghost busters (the one with the monkey that Warner Bros bought the name trade mark from) It got an animated reboot when the Ghostbusters movie got an animated series to cash in on it. Though I hear there are both fans of the original and the animated series so I don’t know if one is better.

Can’t think of anything else. Dune maybe though it’s not really a reboot of the David Lynch film.

Nostalgia is one helluva drug. Nobody wants to create anything new anymore because the fear that it won't be profitable.

New things don't really sell well in companies eyes. People are really making stuff like the MCU or the DCU now because it is profitable, and once that stops being mainstream these corporate types are going to jump to the newest and biggest thing.

And I hope they take the fake fans with them.

um....wut?

Also yeah, the new LOTR is another round of bullshit woke trash.
Eh there was a stage when Dimaggio wasn't in, I don't keep up with contemporary affairs much tho so I have no idea tbh. Maybe Futurama's gonna be a blast an I'm just negging.

And yeah, Amazon seems to be missing their chance to really cash in on the richness of Tolkien's world what with beardless female dwarves and nomad hunters lugging huges ass impractical antlers on their backs for... some reason(one would think they would be carrying packs of supplies but no, they gonna climb mountains with wonky horns sticking out their backs) In a surrealist fantasy this may work, but in a world as grounded as Middle Earth?

Whether Amazon will still cash in and recoup their investment tho... time will tell. Viewers seem to like pretty visuals more than coherent plot and fleshed-out characters these days so meh.
