I suddenly had an idea you know the usual Snarky AI/spirit/God interface/HUD that answers everything, level up, stats, inventory, map, etc. Basically making what's supposed to be a real world more like a video game...for our MC

in most cases the system is a crutch for the author, so he doesn't have to use his brain on how to introduce new things, bring the MC to a new place or make him do things, just make it a "quest" and you can even put in things you want him to have
basically it is a novice's tool in most cases (just right for xianxia and wuxia authors since many many of them lack enough imagination to not repeat the same plot countless times in their novels)

so what if the system is corrupted or not working like those third rate chinese wuxia system novels ,like these three

Randomized System Errors
The system experiences random malfunctions that introduce elements of chaos, such as spawning enemies unexpectedly, reversing time temporarily, or changing environmental conditions without warning.
Misleading Quest Log
Quests given by the system are incomplete, misleading, or outright false. The protagonist might be directed to a location that no longer exists, or the quest rewards are drastically different from what was promised.

Buggy Map Interface
The map shows incorrect locations, outdated information, or fails to update properly. This could lead the protagonist into dangerous areas, making them rely more on their own navigational skills and resourcefulness.

Basically a glitched system

The chinese are doing that already.

So far not so fun.

Like the person above said, those tropes are common in Chinese webnovels and also some English webnovels.

As for those xianxia or wuxia authors, they're really not unimaginative, they just stretch their story too much creating a predictable cycle in the story.

Anyway for some of your ideas, what about putting them in a game that turned into reality. One without system and is just like a normal world. However, unexplainable things happens like a close friend of the character suddenly forget about him while they're talking, or how mountains became taller or smaller by meters, or why does the statue in the plaza changes position every other day—something like matrix(I didn't watch it yet, so excuse me if it's a wrong analogy).

That would be a good plot for a psychological story that can also be mixed with horror, where the mc is on the brink of insanity while trying to determine if the world he was transported is real or it's a world made up of green 0's and 1's.

I mean a system that is incomplete and makes MC a bug in the whole system

A high stakes fight seems less high stakes if it's possible for a system glitch to randomly turn the demon lord into a goat. Or turn back time when the hero is going to die.
In other words does the reader view system glitch as a mechanism for plot armour?

Two ways of fixing this
make glitches only occur in certain situations, dungeon loot, choosing a new class (as long as it's consistent after you get it), respawning things that can have far reaching implications but don't happen constantly.
If you want it more often have some buffs/ debuffs give random glitched effects

Or have them balanced, have the system have enough control over what the glitch is to try to keep the intent the same. Might mean glitches are mostly cosmetic or there's a non-glitched system doing damage control.
