Mine is far from fluff. There are sunny days and moments, but there are more thunderstorms and angst than anything else. I focus on romance/fantasy, which is dark, gory, and can be pretty psychological, but I've been told I have naturally occurring lighter moments, too. The dark comes from situations in which the couples find themselves rather than rivals and other romance tropes. (It's not that I don't fall into some tropes; I bet I do. AKA misunderstandings <3)

It is hard to express, but they have a little of everything. I hope you enjoy it! And I don't mind to throw it on the fire. I'm always looking for ways to improve!

The Shadows Within
This is my version of an Isekai. It currently has 13 chapter updates twice a week and 80-something chapters already done. I have finished the novel; I am just posting slowly so I can edit and write new stuff.

The Gate of Shadows
This is a rewrite of my first novels posted on this site. It currently has 55 chapters released and 130-something chapters, along with two other books I haven't rewritten/edited entirely yet but are done. (Updates 4 times a week.) The original has 10k word chapters and is very much a first draft. These rewrites aren't perfect, but they are 100% better than the originals. Not that I expect you to read that long, but yep!

(Only mentioning the chapters since you wanted 30+)
Just binged on The Gate of Shadows, and honestly... it really was a trip to the nether and back. From child abuse to smut to gore, it's got them all... But surprisingly, it was well-written enough for me to stomach it all down.... :sweating_profusely:

  • The story was twisted, but the romance was well done. It kinda gave a Twilight vibe, with alpha and ugly duckling...
  • Character portrayal of fear, struggles, kindness, etc... Truly, really nice sunshine in this mash-up of darkness...
  • Interesting fantasy elements. Would've been better if more magic was seen, but all bark no bite so far... Wished there was a Megumin exploooosion somewhere in there... :blob_evil:

Dislikes... :blob_pout:
  • MC has a rather insecure mentality. Understandable. Still, depressing to read sometimes...
  • It's missing the angst that would be worth crying about...
  • Smut just made me go tut-tut. Decently written... but it just comes and goes. Might as well just sweep it into the shadows...
  • Battle scenes... So far have been one-sided due to overwhelming power gap. Understandable because the story is more romance-focused... but would've been nice to have some to set off the actual battle prowess of MC or alpha. Just having bodies half torn off... time and time again really doesn't say much...

Well... not a bad read, but doesn't exactly let me get that feeling where the Shadow Monarch says Arise... If anything, I felt more excitement imagining Layla getting reborn back in time and doing her utmost to win her fiance back from the MC...

Marvel/DC fanfic is eh in my books, but I do enjoy some along the lines of Killing Makes Me Stronger and mash-ups like Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard and Track of the Dawn in the Marvel World. :blob_cookie:

On the other hand, I've read a few novels like Black Tech Internet Cafe System, which also uses games to train people (kinda like what this gem was going for). I do enjoy these genre somewhat, but I'm there for the comedy, or in other words, the reaction of the world to the store owner. It's kinda repetitive, but I sometimes stay if it has a good hook...

Let's just say The Game Cafe in Marvel and DC didn't have an aroma marvelous enough to hold me down. The idea is decent, and it might get better down the line, but the start was back to back descriptions of MC designing a game. Yes, this is needed for story, but unless one is fascinated with game design itself, there's not much interest in reading this... especially since there was no system, external team reactions during the design process, nor progression in building up the world. Just stuff everything in, which is no different than just skipping over to the gaming part directly. Putting these game building at start really wasn't a Superman move in my books. :blobspearpeek:

Now, for the gaming part, I can say the same. I'm sure many would enjoy watching someone playing a game with others reacting to the gameplay (during the process) rather than just watching someone struggle in the game. Rather dull. Seriously, if it's gonna be about a survival game, I would rather see Hulk smash the screen in. :blob_evil:

Then, there's the cheat itself. Everything was handed over on a silver platter (which most stories with cheats do), but this one... smh. Gotta leave some progression, at least at start. A game is fun only when there's progression, and this one's a story about a game designer... Might need to ask Wanda for a reality check. :blob_pout:

Pretty sure many could enjoy this gem, but if it were me, I would ask the Supreme One for the time gem to avoid drinking this cup of tea. :blob_sir:
Huh, I guess I was amazed at this fanfic too soon. It was the first kind of genre that I've read.

Also, I can see your point. It was about the designing, the cast we've known, not the progression or the chars' reaction towards the progression and its results.

I now feel motivated to make a fanfic about game design. And, instead of Marvel/DC, I'd like to go with the crazy anime with OP MC and start humiliating them.

I can now feel better once I get to squash those naive but OP mcs'.

Thanks for the comment!
Also, Black Internet Cafe System?

Sounds like a Cybercafe opened somewhere in Africa.

Thank you! It was my first novel, so it's far from perfect. But I do feel like I'm getting better as I go. :blob_aww: As for explosions, they come as the story goes on as the red moon closes in. I tend to do character-driven stories more than anything else, so action comes at moments of climax before going back down as everyone reacts and resettles before it peaks again.

That said, it's far from perfect! I'll consider your feedback as I continue to write. Thank you again for your time!:blob_melt:
