I use Rumble more than YouTube, may not be as many channels but there are some good ones, and it's growing fast.

I gave up. Just downloaded all the tracks I love with aTube catcher in .mp3 format and made a playlist in Winamp.

I don't really use adblock and just reload the page if I get an unskippable one, granted I don't really have a premium coz I'm Cinderella.
Serious question tho, are Ads really that bad or is this just a US thing?

The ads themselves are not particularly annoying, compared to the frequency of them. In the past, Youtube would play 15 to 30 second ads at the beginning of a video every so often (not including the midroll ads that some youtubers would enable). Since a couple of years ago however, an ad plays on every single video, even if you buffered 2 seconds of content only to leave that page and open a different video.
For someone who is often searching for music this way, the task became 100% impossible to put up with. There are also moments where you could end up pausing the video of, music per say, only to hit play and run into another mid-roll ad, just because the site detected you were in the same page long enough, afk or not. Not sure if being in the US has anything to do with that, though I assume you were asking about the specific content of each ad, which to me is not relevant.

Please follow this thread:
Interesting, but not worth it. There isn't enough information in that thread to point out exactly why the issue keeps happening. Lots of people report similar issues but then get told that "it's been fixed or patched" when clearly it hasn't been fixed for every single user. I could dig deeper but it would take hours to pinpoint where the problem is. It's ten times easier and faster for me to just use NewPipe and export the urls if I need to test it on the desktop.

Don't forget that this is not exactly a Problem/Answer thread when I created it. I just wanted to rant about it for a moment and let others know that NewPipe is great for what it can do. Not being able to fix my Ublock right now is not something for me to cry over.
