I took the liberty to add some settings to your world. Hope you liked it.

While I understand "Give other future authors the chance to expand, alter, or elaborate on something that you write about." I think its a really bad idea to say they can just go ahead and set it on fire. Like its cool if you build a city and another author writes about their characters visiting and exploring that city. Its not cool if you spent dozens of hours building the lore and world of that city and another author comes by and destroys it with a dragon attack. Not cool, at all. And that's literally what you said they can do, burn your city, destroy your setting. No one wants all their hard work destroyed like that. All your doing is inviting trouble between authors for the future. Put limits on what can be done in terms of interaction. Simply saying "well this may not be good for you" is not enough.

Interesting project. Personally I don't plan on joining, but I do hope you find others who do.
Thanks for your comment!

While I understand the sentiment, I kind of wanted to try something new for this collaboration. I’ve done a number of shared-world things, and one of the most common reasons why I’ve seen universes die is because one of the authors are too controlling over a certain subject... which stifles interaction until there is only one person left.

This is the reason why I wanted to avoid that at all costs, even at the risks of going in the opposite direction.

One of the basics in of improv (and roleplay) is to go with the flow, and the genre disappears if too many things are regulated. In essence, this is sort of a world building collaboration with a strong improv tilt, and anyone entering should be comfortable with that aspect.

I think with reservations, you can definitely define the fate of your kingdom for like 20 years... but most stories don’t last that long... and I think it’s unreasonable to insist that the empire you created should live happily ever after in a golden age for 1000 years and nobody should be able to say differently.

We can each only tell a story that fits within the bounds of our novel, and I think that’s probably the fairest way is to restrict an author’s influence to only their own story.

I took the liberty to add some settings to your world. Hope you liked it.
Thanks for your additions! :blob_hug: :blob_hug:

Out of curiosity, are you joining us? :blob_aww: I was hoping to keep the world building to authors inside of the project because it’s really easy bloat... especially if there are additions that aren’t part of anyone’s story.

I dunno. I mean, I still have unfinished novel, so I don't think I will create a new one.
By the way, my current novel genre is incompatible with your world.

I've got the first chapter of a story I want to set in Gaia written. I have some slight issues, like the first chapter being longer than intended while still not covering everything I wanted to do in it, and my inability to motivate myself to use some free photoshop type software to make my idea for a cover photo. But overall I'm good to go. So, can I have access to the document? I could message you my favored email account, or if you can tell me where to click on the doc to request it?

So I know that the current year starts off as GY 1000, but if say I want to write a story about what had happened a few to a hundred years prior, how should I go about reserving that?

Just reserve GY 900 or something!

The years are technically arbitrary! If you character isekai's to a country that uses a different year-calendar counting system, that's find too.
