i like elden ring it's fun when i roll to dodge enemy attacks and then hit the enemy and then run around on my horse and then roll to dodge enemy attacks and then hit the enemy. i will play the formula no matter how many times they redo it.

Wait. Did formsoft ever make a game that's not a souls-like?
this is the problem of taking so bloody long before making Armored Core VI. Fromsoft been making games since the mid-90s. before souls-likes, they were the mecha gurus of gaming.

i am now occasioned to wonder how Fromsoft feels about being pigeonholed in the minds of so many that believe they only make souls-likes :blob_hmm_two::blob_sir:

ER sucks and is probably one of the worst souls games.

Ubisoft keeps making failure after failure. Uninspired game after uninspired game.

Now, FromSoftware is joining them. Although their descent into garbage started from ER itself, their next game only showcases to the masses of fanatics the truth. Their next game, ER DLC called Nightreign, is an uninspired, blatant cashgrab. They've become money grubbing and have stopped caring about their consumers. They're only trying to fill their pockets now, and it's so obvious. I'm ashamed of being FromSoftware stan all these years.

Elden Ring DLC: Shit and promotes toxic relationships, total nonsense.
Elden Ring Battle Royal Fortnite game incoming: WTF?

From Software is dead.

Shut the fuck up. I generally don’t get mad at a lot on the internet, but I absolutely will not stand for Elden ring disrespect. Easily the greatest game to release in decades and clowns who probably have under an hour in the game have the audacity to call it uninspired garbage. I hate the internet.
I'm not a big Fromsoft fan. I loved the lore behind Dark Souls, but couldn't enjoy the game itself. The only ones I completed were Bloodborne + DLC and Elden Ring + DLC.

I won't say a word about Bloodborne. Masterpiece. I enjoyed Elden Ring, but I'd give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10. Good, but not great. The DLC though, that was a miserable experience lore-wise.

Now, my main criticism for Fromsoft is the story-telling methods they use. Is it unique? Definitely. But I also find it lazy. I can never forgive them for not telling me what the fuck is going on, and then expecting me to go loot-diving for information from items.. To me, unique or not, that is one of the shittiest ways to tell a story I've ever encountered. I despise it. I watch lore videos on youtube, and love the stories they pitch, but that lack of ability to clarify what is or isn't lore, is disgusting to me. I will never forgive Fromsoftware for that. I hope they collapse like Ubisoft, though not because I dislike their gameplay, but because of their story-telling methods. I want them gone yesterday so no other studio decides to carry on that stupid fucking story-telling tradition.

Elden Ring....gods I love the lore, or at least the theories since their is no fucking lore accepted since it's all "up to the players interpretation." I DESPISE that. I LOATHE it. Even lore-divers are becoming critical of Elden Ring lore because.....let's be honest here and admit Fromsoft did a shit job with (not)writing the story. Even more so than usual. The base game ended with a bunch of questions that even the usual lore-divers couldn't answer, and then the DLC came along and added more questions that were never truly answered satisfactorily and then concluded with ALMOST NOTHING being answered leftover in the base game either.

Then there was the final boss reveal in the DLC. So disappointing. Than there was that final cutscene after defeating the final boss in the DLC. It literally just restated what was already known, the little of this there was. It revealed nothing. It explained nothing. It. Did. Nothing. It was FOR nothing.

That final cutscene was what convinced me that I was done with Fromsoftware. Not the only thing mind you, it was just the final nail in the coffin.

As for the fanbase, I despise the vast majority of you. YOU are the reason Fromsoft has become what it is. You were all such arrogant bastards with that "git gud" nonsense, rubbing it in people's noses about how hard it was, how "fulfilling and challenging" it was. You bragged about it. You made every effort to smirk and sneer at people who complained about it being too hard. Than when those very same people you mocked and taunted, finally joined in anyway despite the insults....you were shocked that the nature of the game, and the company as well, began to shift alongside the new crowd' of players entry into the series. To me, you old Fromsoft fans are only reaping the very thing you sowed yourselves. Your elitist bullshit, your pretending it was some kind of benchmark to gaming success, your excessive pride at completing it and the backhanded snickers to those who dropped out due to it's difficulty. You did it to yourselves. You caused it. It's YOUR fault.

I can't even count the amount of times I got shitted on in Bloodborne help groups, when asking for help. The amount of times I was told to "git gud" when I asked for advice in a place where you were supposed to ask such questions...
Admittedly, Bloodborne's help groups could be pleasant people too. I never would have beaten some of the Chalice Dungeons without help. Not sure why, but I really struggled with some of those, whereas I beat the campaign bosses with only a little difficulty. Fuck Ludwig in the Old Hunters DLC. FUCK THAT GUY. Oh and Micolash. Ludwig and Micolash were the only two bosses I could never beat solo. The amount of times I got shitted on for asking for help with Micolash specifically was....interesting.

Elden Ring though....that game really brought the worst out of the "git gud" trash-folks. I played most of that game alone because I made the mistake of going online to some help groups and just observing the way people attacked each other. I noticed a lot of people getting jumped on for struggling with Commander Gaius in Shadow of the Erdtree, which I still don't get. Maybe I'm crazy, but I found Gaius harder than Messmer.

Anyway, I've rambled on far too long. Long story short, Fromsoftware's story-telling style is horrible to me. That, and the player/fanbase are why I am hanging my hat up permanently on Fromsoftware. Most of this that the OP is complaining about, as far as Fromsoftware's style changes going into the future, to me, are self-inflicted wounds from an overly arrogant and excessively proud fanbase that started with Dark Souls 1, or at least that's when I became aware of it.

As long as FromSoft never has its own launcher like fucking U-Play then they are nowhere near as bad.

Miyazaki has no input and has no reign over Nightrein. Just like how he didn't develop DS2 but he has mentioned that he appreciates the DLC.

iirc, the creator of DS2 is the one that's handling Nightrein.

I mean, he also did ER.
