it's not dead game lul, maybe original, HD because Ubisoft is shit who kill the game, but HOTA has her active developers, enthusiast tournaments and I think the average online is around 2000, so you can always play with someone. Although most of the players are russian-speaking (from what I've seen from the video, I only play single player, not ready for online yet. So maybe there are also a lot of english-speaking players), in the rest of the world the game is somehow not so well known, which is very sad. In russia this game has the status of a cult masterpiece, probably the #1 game
I also think Heroes 3 HOTA is completely free, though I'm not 100% sure, and it's not dead.

Don't you have to buy the base game to install the HOTA addon? So I'm not sure if you can consider it a free game. On steam or on GoG heroes 3 is above 10$ lol

You can download everything for free. The thing that bothers me is lobby, I don't remember if you need to pay for it or not.

I'm always down for some classic UT2004. It's an evergreen title. I remember the game running on max settings on 1GB RAM and a mid-range GPU from '03. Don't make them as they used to. Don't make them at all, what with the dumb hero shooters dominating the market today. I'll concede to playing UT3, too, even though its visuals are too gritty/grimy at times.

On the topic of arena shooters, Tribes 2 is also a classic, and a dead one at that. Tribes: Ascend is a more modern rendition with LAN/dedicated servers, and the only arena shooter with a decent singleplayer campaign (as in, having a passable sci-fi story) that I know of.

You meant Jedi Outcast?

Nobody even mentions this game and nobody from the new canon and legends knows who the heck is Kyle Katarn.

Most people only know Revan and Starkiller

Yeah, Kyle Katarn is THE indisputable Jedi master. Starkiller? Darth Vader? Revan? Pshhhh. Gigachad Kyle is where stuff's at. The only possibly cooler Jedi would be one of those Force-sensitive sapient dinosaurs that are featured in the expanded universe.

Also, I didn't mention Jedi Academy myself because, as others have pointed out, it's very much still alive, thanks to the Cinematic Battles mod.

Regards,

Suddenly remember the ungodly amount of time I sunk into Planetside 2.

Mostly just ferrying people to and fro the battle field in my minivan.

Exploring free games that might be considered "dead" can still lead to hidden gems! Titles like "Team Fortress 2" or "Warframe" have been around for a while but still offer loads of fun. Also, if you're into exploring games where you can potentially win something, like wondering if is bingo for cash game legit, it's always good to do a bit of research beforehand. There are some genuine platforms out there, but it's wise to check reviews and user experiences to ensure a safe and enjoyable gaming experience!
