Free games that are fun but are considered dead

So I've been having some fun looking over dead games where the community is 50 players or less. Most of these games are free or fairly cheap so they can be fun for communities to join/take over. So far I have six free multiplayer dead games that I have found fun to play. If anyone knows of any games that would classify as a dead game, I want to see if they would be good to revive. Bonus points if they are free or if they cost less than $5. Also, preferably 10 GB or less.

The games I have found are:

1. Battle Ground III
2. A.V.A. Global
3. CRSED
4. Dystopia
5. Fortress Forever
6. WWII Online
7. (Not a dead game but it's still a good option) Battlefront 1(2003) and battlefront 2(2005)

Once I have enough games, I want to open a poll to vote on which dead game the SHF should play on with a dedicated server. I was even thinking of having an event where anyone on SHF and the SH discord could join.

Well, we have to figure out a game first. I'll host the server once we figure that out. Maybe we can schedule the battle for January.

I would say WC3 custom maps are pretty much dead, and you can play it for free with the help of certain sites. You can try doing that, but I'm not sure how good it will work for everyone across the world.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Its multiplayer is the GOAT in terms of fantasy combat. Also, it's very, very dead for more than a decade.

Last when I checked back in the mid 2010s, only a handful of Russian servers existed.

Can be bought cheap on Steam for something like 5-10 euros.

I would consider Vindictus to be a f2p mmo that's dead. It's very fun till you hit the raid grind as typical of Korean mmos. Avg pop is like 300 a day which is dead for an mmo.

It uses the old Valve Halflife 2 source engine. So don't expect an open world mmo. But if you love very tight controls and fantasy battle, there's really nothing better. I've played many games and when Dark souls came out, I thought, "Oh, a single player Vindictus."

I really loved my scythe Evie back in the day.

Also, OG Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield 2 are quite good to this day, and they're basically dead. (2 still clings to life through the remnants of the ReLive community, but since the DMCA strike on its servers, it's a wasteland of fractured micro-communities.)

I also think Heroes 3 HOTA is completely free, though I'm not 100% sure, and it's not dead.

They are so good with lightsabres they are like actual Jedis, untouchable and ruining everyone's day.
