I found in ascii table a wider space than if you press a space-bar.
"ㅤ"

This line has no space in front.
This line has regular space in front.
ㅤThis line has a wide space in front.

I'm not sure if that solution satisfies me though :/

Edit:
Forum removes spaces on the front of a line

But what about book-like experience?

I get what you all saying with mobile. That may be a valid argument that i haven't thought off.
I didn't expect mobile peasants to be able to read. PC master race!

@RepresentingEnvy I can send you indent-less version when I will publish. Just please tell me how to do them. :blob_blank: I want to make my own decision weather to use indents or not. Not be forced by some mobile loving algorithm!
It's entirely your call. I'd recommend using spaces for indents. The rule of thumb is 5-7 per TAB press (is pressing TAB gives an indent, pressing SPACE 5-7 times gives the same indent).

But there is one thing you should consider: IF you want a book-like experience, epub or PDF is a better option. SH is a webnovel platform. as such, there's not pages, which is a MAJOR factor. this one, the whole chapter is in a single page, scrolling format.

When I first started, I had a similar issue of wanting to use indents, and it took me my whole first novel to realize that what I wanted here and what I thought I wanted originally (books) didn't align. And when I publish to paper, I'm going to have to re-format entirely. but it's a small price for me.

Again, to each their own. I'm not trying to persuade or dissuade, just inform so you can make a solid call on your own.

I doubt I will ever publish it on paper. I would have to firstly translate it to local language. Also I'm not sure anyone would bought it...

As to the other matters you might be right.
I had no idea that this page was primarily intended for mobile devices.

I think I'll continue to write it like a book because it is easier for me Than reformat it for SH.
I think I might be overthinking the issue.

what really matters most is that you, the author, are content with how it looks. yes, readers are nice. but in the end, you can't effectively write if you aren't motivated. and you won't be motivated if you aren't happy with the result.

in the end, writing is art. this means both the words used as well as the formatting itself is entirely subjective to the artist/author. as long as the end product best represents "you" then it's good.

lol it's a representation of you. like the Mona Lisa. She may be the MC of the painting, but the painting as a whole, her included, is a representation of the artist.
So if I write a story about slime girl that represents authors (therefore mine) sliminess?

I personally write in Word and go through the annoying process of removing tabs that I wrote decades ago. I wasn't aware anyone used tabs on Scribblehub; every book I saw did not. So I figured I'd better follow suit.

not a specific aspect of you. But you as a whole. I write fantasy-smut. this doesn't mean I'm a horny dragon. but they are still works that came from my mind.

same thing for you. If you write a story about a slime girl, it represents you in some way, shape, or form, even if that way is SIMPLY how others perceive you (as the slime girl author, per your example).

why do that if after copy pasting the text SH removes Tabs on its own.
Which is my original problem and reason for creating this thread.

Now I'm afraid to post anything...
I have few stories started. I'm not sure which one would be worse gauge of my character...

I really am not like MCs of my stories or like what is done to them by others in my stories...

and that's fine. i was just saying that everything within the story exists within you in some small way. I've written visceral horror, fantasy, BDSM smut, and everything in between. the only thing i've written that aren't within me are commissions and requests. even if the things in the story don't DESCRIBE you, they came from your mind. that makes them part of you in some way.

How do I convince people that I'm not a total pervert?
Do I have to write boring technical office story to balance:
fantasy BDSM smut

everyone is a pervert in some way. it's nothing to be ashamed of. Just write what you enjoy, and to hell with others. And all my current stories are smutty. each story has the smut chapters marked as NSFW, so you can use the links in my sig to find them. for BDSM, you should look at DragonBound and One Shots, as those have more of it than others, but be aware, DragonBound is the sequel to Lay the Dragon.

Shouldn't the markings of what is complete and what is ongoing be reversed than?

Ah! A fellow rewriter...

So after you finish rewriting Lay the Dragon you will start to rewrite Dragon Bound?
I'll reread it and maybe touch up a few spots, but overall I'm fairly happy with DragonBound. I'm planning on starting on the final book of the trilogy after I'm done rewriting Lay the dragon.

I've also got a few other stories I want to work on, so I might take a short break from my Mysthavia world after i'm done rewriting Lay the Dragon. If you want to continue chatting, you're welcome to DM me. I feel bad we kind of commandeered your thread here lol.

Ah, you see, I did not know that would happen. I just saw everyone had the same format so I figured I better too. I still had some indentations so I don't think the program is perfect.

Hi i just finished writing first chapter of my story.
I plan to write at least two more before I will publish it but I wanted to already format it to take break from writing and have this chapter ready.
Unfortunately I run in to some problems with formatting. And could not find formatting tutorial.

Come one laugh at me and tell me that I'm stupid and cant use SEARCH properly.
Just point me in the right direction while you do that.

So as I proof read, I format it as I go to know how it would look like to reader.
It looks like that in text editor:

But when I copied it to SH the nice formatting was gone.

D:

I tried to use Indent button and that just indented the whole paragraph instead on first line.

How do I make indents correctly so it looks like a book not a wall of text?

Please help.

Edit: I am aware of this thread: https://forum.scribblehub.com/threa...ilt-scribblehub-text-editor-effectively.1037/ but it still does not solve my problem... also pressing tab in a browser just don't work.
I too am trying to upload my first story, and I share your frustration. Indenting is such an extremely basic and necessary function. If you have found a solution since posting this, please let me know ASAP.

She was really old and that apparently used to be the norm.
Until the 90s and the advent of competent desktop publishing software the two spaces at the end of a sentence was "the law" (the reason was threefold: first, just like the QWERTY keyboard layout, to slow down typists; second because most typesetting machines preferred it as kind of a throwback to the "STOP" used to denote the end of a sentence in telegrams, and third, to differentiate between abbreviations and sentence terminators). Now it is frowned upon in most cases (oddly enough, I usually do it still, and PocketFM about 1/3 of the time changes it for me, 1/3 of the time flags it as a possible typo/grammar error, and just does not see it the other third; not sure why).
