Feedback on a short story?

Would anyone want to throw a few minutes of their day away reading a short story of mine? I just published it, I like the main character, and feel I can do more with her eventually, but the specific story, while I find very fun, might not pop either. Maybe not enough set up or drama? It's just a classic clumsy girl story and the fall out of her misteps. It's set in a larger world but I think its self contained enough to not matter too much. Anyway, if anyone could give feedback, I'd appreciate it. Please and thank you.

I liked it. The pacing was amazing and the story itself was brilliant. I didn’t have much questions as the story got across its point. Reminded me of this show on Disney called “Milo Murphy’s Law”.

It does pop just in a simple and easy way. A short story I'd read out of those newspaper cartoons. When I was younger, 8-9 to be exact, I used to go out my way to wake up and get the newspaper just so I could read them lol. Although it was barely ten years I remember it like it was yesterday. Story brung back some nostalgia for me ;)

Thank you, that is such high praise! And I hear you. I've been really inspired by Terry Pratchett's story collection. 2 books published post mortum were a collection of his short stories, some of which came entirely from fans who'd saved the old newspaper clippings! Really incredible they survived and such an amazing story in and of itself.

Not too familiar with Terry Pratchetts work because I mostly read the “Blondie” comic strips by Young and Raymond and some Charlie Brown. It is pretty impressive his work was able to survive off fans who saved the work. Lwk wish I’d have kept some of the comic strips but unfortunately after awhile they got thrown away..

I do enjoy searching them up from time to time. I will for sure check out Terry’s work when I get the chance.

The fans continuing his work was done against his express wishes, IIRC. Unless I'm mixing his story up with another writer who died about the same time, he had of his friends go through his computers and workbooks. submit the one finished document they found to his editor, and then destroyed all the rest per explicit instructions in his will.

Do they maybe have collection books you could buy? I know Dilbert an Garfield have quite a few where all the comics over the course of a year or so are compiled together.

yeah you’re a bit mixed up. He had his notes and incomplete works destroyed. His family did that. While he feigned a bit of embarrassment on his old writings he never instructed his previously published works to nor be republished

Unfortunately, I am unaware. I believe Charlie Brown does because of its show and movie. But I am not sure on the “Blondie” comic strips. I will try my best to find out though.

Was a big fan of Garfield when I was younger, even though I loathed lasagna lol.

All of the old comic strips have collections. Some of them, like the Peanuts books (the "Charlie Brown" comics) are frequently reprinted or collected into additional volumes due to agreements with King Features Syndicate.
Some of the others are not reprinted as often, like Hagar the Horrible, Blondie (which had, IIRC, two movies based on it - both B&W; the strip is that old, and the characters changed a LOT over time), Beetle Bailey, even B.C. - they tend to get collector's prices (especially the ones that have been kept in print after the original creator retired; Peanuts books went up a bit after Charles Schulz died).

Alrighty then whenever I get the chance I’ll be sure to order some of the peanuts book. Kinda feel a little sad about Blondie but it is pretty older so I couldn’t expect tm.

You can probably get a lot of them through the public library (that's where I read most of the Peanuts books when I was little) or probably on Libby (a virtual library app my wife swears by).

Is the Libby app free? Sounds interesting.

My wife explained it to me but I don't recall - I think there are "levels" to it; at the basic (free) level, you can check out only one or two books that a library you have a valid library card for has e-licenses for (it appears that most books now come with two e-licenses per physical book if a library purchases them). If you pay in, you can get more books and pull from farther away or something like that,
