So, a person I once knew had a hobby of acting on a stage. He once told me that amateur playwriters love to end plays by killing everyone(like the romeo and juliet thing) because that ties all loose ends together and there are no plot holes. Another such way is to end the play by saying, "and then he woke up," insinuating that everything was a dream till now; yet another method to tie loose ands and plotholes.

What's your favourite method to end a story?

My favorite ending to a play was at the end of Cyrano De Bergerac. The hero dies but everyone else lives to lament his death and wish that they had never treated him so poorly. Here's the entire play if you want 2 hours of heart wrenching poetic genius.

An open fist fight between all the cast members. Audiences are free to join. Doesn't matter which play, we could all be singing along to Les Miserables and we'd cut off the song in half just to have an onstage Fight Club.

i think the best ending for me is when the mc achieved their goals to the fullest and perhaps moving on to a grander stage or something different.

it was simply an end of a phase and a new beginning. as for the continuation, it's kinda optional, really.
