Hey guys I'm trying to get out of reading slump. I'd love some recommendations. What's your favourite manhwa/manga? And why? :D

Berserk. Why I like it. I went into it completely blind, and actually started with anime. All the twists and turns of the anime wasn't spoiled to me, and the ending completely gutted me. I didn't touch manga with a ten foot pole for a long time until I finally decided to give it a try because of boredom or something. Some people might argue that Golden age is peak, I liked following arcs as much as I liked Golden age. Later arcs lack the gutting twist at the end of Golden age, but they compensate it with everything else I think. The art is phenomenal, characters are phenomenal, world is a rare, proper dark fantasies, imo the best dark fantasy that hasn't been topped to this day.

Those aren't necesserily my favorites, but I like them. You can try Ramen Aka Neko, Underworld Restaraunt(webtoon), The way of the Househusband, Horimiya, Bokuyaba. Saotome Senshu, Hitakakusu, Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, Sesuji wo Pin! to ~Shikakou Kyougi Dance-bu e Youkoso~. These three have some action, but are lighthearted. You can also try Slam Dunk, it is goated and one of my favorites. It has even more action than the previous entries though.

The One Within the Villainess. It's peak "reincarnated as an otome villainess". I'm not just saying that because I'm on the translating team, but pretty much anyone on bato says so too

If I listed my top 3 of Berserk, Chainsaw Man, and Oyasumi Punpun, I'd look incredibly boring.

So I'll recommend some stuff from the latter half of my top 10.
  1. My Girl (Sahara Mizu)
Man finds out his now-dead ex-girlfriend had his kid without him knowing, and now he's resolved to taking care of the little girl despite all the challenges that lay ahead. Somewhat similar to Usagi Drop, but without the Usagi Drop-ness ? . Generally more melancholic as well, as it consistently had me in tears chapter to chapter. It's probably the best of the single parent genre, for which I am a connoisseur.

  2. Insomniacs After School (Makoto Ojiro)
This one's actually got an anime adaptation. I'd say it's one of the best romance manga to come out in the past 5 years or so. It has a bit of an iyashikei feel with how it takes its time and lulls you into its pace.

The two leads have incredible chemistry from the get-go, and the romance doesn't feel forced in the slightest. You don't get any "The hottest gyaru in my class is interested in me because I have a niche otaku interest????" bullshit. It also avoids most of the annoying self-perpetuating tropes you'd find in lesser romances. The ending feels a little protracted, but overall, it's an incredible read.

    Also, the art is breath-taking.

  3. My Broken Mariko (Hirako Waka)
An absolutely heartbreaking oneshot about a woman reacting to the suicide of her best friend. Definitely not for when you're looking for a light-hearted read. Every single one of its 5 chapters will reach into you and hurt you in ways you didn't know possible. But it isn't sad for the sake of being sad. It's an ultimately life-affirming story once you get through it. The artwork's insanely raw as well.

Manhwa: FFF Class Trash Hero
Reason: Vertis thinks this was the first Anti-Hero MC thing Vertis read.
Manhwa: I Grow Stronger By Eating
Reason: Also anti-hero MC
Manga: Isekai Apocalypse Mynoghra
Reason: Its similar to Overlord

Personally, I didn't read it yet because it's a heavy manga.
