Expressions in real life and anime

Merry Christmas!

I wanted to ask a question regarding how much you think anime and adjacent culture have influenced your behavior. Habits, speech patterns, postures, etc.—it doesn't necessarily have to be exclusive to anime; however, such that you feel like comparing nonetheless. I am aware of memes of similar phenomena, of feeling like an anime girl, floating around on the internet: how you feel like you like lying on your stomach (anime girl) vs. in real life (grown man). But to what extent is it the case for you?

As an example, I tend to pout a lot. A grown woman pouting is not a pretty sight for certain, but I do so without realizing, despite my attempts to curb it. I tilt my head when I am confused; my thinking posture resembles that of anime and various other little quirks I display with how I move my body and express my emotions. I became conscious of it sometimes, though it often exacerbates the situation, for I don't think a regular person knows what a 'typical behavior' is like, and so it is easier to default back to how you see it in anime or other pop media.

And shut up, Sailus, if you are planning to comment 'weeb.' I'll murder you!

I THOUGHT TILTING YOUR HEAD IN CONFUSION WAS NORMAL ???
I also feel like I subconsciously assign everyone a vague anime face because Im terrible with them irl and I can only recognize anime characters. Always a treat when I see my friends faces once in a while and I have to work out the disassociation.

Um that sounds worse than me. I don't think head tilting is anime exclusive, or even Japan, but it does exaggerates things.
At the same time, I've never seen anyone tilting head in real life, though I may not have been paying attention.
I only do some small ones, like saying "heh" or "hoh".
You mean you are not a cute vampire goth anime girl in real life? I feel betrayed.

As someone with ADHD I spend a lot of time in daydream-land. It used to be that these daydreams would often have anime themes. Big monsters breaking through walls, me being the MC, etc.

Nowadays, I daydream less often, but when I'm reading I tend to have an anime style in how I imagine the characters. If you notice my new PFP, this is part of the reason I use Honey Select for my art. It's less anime-ish than Koikatsu. trying to break the bad habits that have developed :blob_sweat:

I used to imitate the way L holds objects back when I was starting to get into Death Note--

Oh not a habit I developed from an anime, but I like to crack my fingers using my thumb. And then Tokyo Ghoul came out uegh...

Okay, serious answer time. I have zero mannerisms from anime. Mainly because I don't watch anime and read manga instead. It's kinda hard to replicate a movement from static picture.
I pretty much stopped watching anime since the days of the pandemic. But I suppose I still regularly interacted with stuff related to the subculture.

I got a few mannerisms from wrestling. Although, I get rid of them fairly quickly and currently have none. I don't think my speech was affected in any way or form by either wrestling or anime, can't say the same about local memes...
