So I had this weird idea about someone who's completely unable to understand words (or like, seriously illiterate), but for some reason they enjoy novels so much.

Perhaps they did see the words as caricatures lining up together and imagining several adventurous scenes on top of another.

What do you think would be the reason for their infatuation?

Wut?

Is this those funky words with people looking like stick figures? Because the english alphabets do not look anything like that. OK.

Orz.

When I was a kid I played a lot of Super Nintendo RPG games. In Japanese, when I didn't even know that English existed.

I used to love playing games like Bahamut lagoon or treasure hunter G. But I never knew what the stories in those games were really about. But I had its charm trying to find out what things were going on more or less by context or personal interpretation of what was happening.

It had such a great charm that I realized some time later that my imagination was telling so many more incredible stories than what those games were really about when I tried them again sometime later, already in English and being able to understand what was really happening.
