:meowsip: It depends on how your WWIII comes about~. Military grow and shrink depending on necessity, although the point can be made that will never see a world war again. The economic and demographic requirements do not exist any more to allow such wars.
What if half of the earth becomes a nuclear wasteland?

Given the number of countries with limited involvement in the Ukraine and Middle Eastern conflicts, those could be considered part of a world war III actually. Not on the scale of the two a century before them but close.

Korean War. Look at the number of participants. :meowsip: Was this a world war? I get your point, but we should refrain from basically calling every major regional conflict with a major participant a world war just because.

I will come back in two days and by that time everything about guns and wars should be listed here.

In WW3 I expect drone warfare to be common. Remote controlled combatants fighting each other. Human participation will still be required of course, but the war machines we use will be controlled very differently.
No pilots, tank commanders, only remote operators.

Then theres the Cyber warfare field.
AI will be the main combatants there.

I know this isn't what you want, but never write a story you have no idea about, it will get boring and you'll abondon it eventually because it will require a lot of effort and research,
instead pick something that resonates with you well,

Didn't we legalize piracy if it was against Russia a few years back?
Piracy is never legal. Government sanctioned piracy is "privateering" which is "always" legal by the sanctioning government, never legal to the targets... Suspect we do (and, for a few decades, have had) privateers targeting Russia, China and North Korea (at the very least - plus, apparently, USAID sanctioned privateers against EVERYONE, including targets within the United States, if the reports coming out are true).

Privateering is just fancy legal piracy.
