Editing is hard but an editor can only do so much to help you. You'll have to work with them to better the quality of the story. Having an editor go over it can make your own editing easier as they'll point out areas that need work. Thus, you can focus on those areas instead of wasting time on areas that don't need it as much. On the other hand, you could take a break to watch grammar and editing aid videos. This will expand your editing knowledge and make it easier to identify issues. Reading books similar to the style you are or want to write can also help expand your writing knowledge by exposure.

Editing is a horrid time to realize your grammar isn't as amazing as you thought. Better you find your mistakes unless you just have one of those readers who do it for you.

I find the editing bit is not to hard, since I have written a lot of essays in the past for university I'm used to the 2am readthrough. The part I find tough is reading through the chapter with the readers perspective. Being a the writer, I know what I'm trying to say, I know the descriptions of the characters and what the locations look like, however what i have written may be inadequate for the reader. Especially with my latest chapter which looks a lot a the characters family history. I spent a lot of time adding in plot hints, a little character development, ensuring that points I mentioned earlier in the conversation were covered, that sort of thing. By the time I got to the end of the chapter I realised that I left a couple of holes that would make the readers question the realism of the story/conversation, and to some extent plot holes I left.

So in summary if you can get someone to proof read your chapter and give you a readers perspective of what they found lacking/any holes, you should be golden. Even if its a hardcore fan of the series, anything like that helps.

do you think,? I will inform over time... Or I should just look for an editor
You will definitely improve over time. But trust me, it will be a long way until you get there, and I mean super long judging by your grammar right now.

So if you want to write a decent story, you should hire and editor (cough cough me for $5 per 3000 words cough shameless self-advertising cough) or use a free grammar app. The best free one for me is Google docs. It feels better than Grammarly for some reason.

If the editing part is still too hard for you, focus on writing. You'll get to editing hell quick enough if you write long enough.

My personal editing hell starts the moment I hit 10 A4 pages, no matter what I write. Always.

Whenever I begin writing, I'm somewhat in the zone? My fingers just keep writing as the scenes and events play out within my mind.
To pause and edit through entire chapters actually disrupts my momentum, so I don't edit that much at all...

If you're too lazy to edit, just imagine reciting your stories in your head. If it feels incongruent, you know how to adjust it.

when it comes to grammar, it just feels alien for me. i just go with whether it reads smoothly enough, as if i'm telling the story to another.

Unfortunately I can’t read said chapter to check, but if you only want to fix grammatical mistakes, typos, miswordings, etc., then it is pretty easy to fix, just use a grammar checker like Grammarly and use a text-to-speech bot to read your chapters back to you. You will find and fix most errors that way.

If you want your dialogue and prose to flow well, make your chapters more efficient, get said chapters done faster, make your work more cohesive, and much more, than hiring an editor might help. Although you would probably have to pay them out of pocket, and hire them long term.

Another way, and what I do, is to turn into your own editor, use said grammar checker and text-to-speech bot to fix your errors while rereading every chapter a handful of times looking for improvements you can make. Plan out your chapters before writing by stating what you want to happen in every scene, the plan might change as you write but it is good to have a general outline of how you wish to continue while allowing you to efficiently build your scenes. Although this will take more time and effort than hiring an editor.

Nevertheless, the more you write the better you will get, especially if you focus on improving said writing. So if you feel uncomfortable with your writing, don’t fret and just continue with it!
