I love ES lore. It's unique in terms of Fantasy while also being similar enough that you find things you liked about certain races. The fact that there are different human ones like Nord, Breton, Imperial, and Redguard was enough to motivate me to make things like that. In one of my stories I created a redguardish race.
They have curved swords.

Think about your name, but this time it's the tip of a curved sword.
Oh, that's... a relief?

PS: Didn't know there was a limit on how many times you could react in a day. Any idea why?

Dwarves.

Always the brash, blunt, and bullheaded, but somewhat good-hearted companion.

It's as if it has been established as a multi fictional canon that dwarves are always siding with the protagonists, or are good guys in general even if they don't.

And I think this somewhat limits their potential.

The only story I read where they were bad guys was "Stubborn Skill-Grinder in a Time-loop," but because that was a power fantasy with the MC facing continuously stronger opponents, their existence was barely brush over.

Give me racist dwarves, and I don't just mean "Oh, we hate the long-eared folks" racist."

Dwarven Supremacists!

Folks who look down on humans and their stunted technological growth!

They could even just be unkempt, underground cave recluses, who obsess over precious metals like leprechauns for gold. This particular one was utilized in a genderbender story on NU, though I've forgotten which one.

For the story I'm planning, the dwarves will definitely be bloodthirsty expansionists who always seek conflict if only to test out their magitech.

Why do you think dwarves have been mostly established as good guys in most media?

Do you know any one you can recommend where they're actually the bad guys? Or there's at least a unique take on them, as long as it's not just simply, ale-loving, blacksmithing folk.

Thanks!
I remember in the hobbits movies that spoilers ahead one of the dwarfs the main dwarf guy he actually turns temporary evil because of gold or something I think I will say it would be really cool seeing a dwarf for a villain because they would be really strong for all their smartness and ingenuity and machines

Oh, I'll check it out.

And yeah, dwarves would make very badass villains

Dwarves are peak mysotheist that want to create their own god.
Now that's a not-cliche development.

But it feels somewhat contradictory. Unless they hate the already existing gods and want to create one that fits their established beliefs?

That's already in the definition of a mysotheist.

Elves are the antagonists?

Though I did ask for dwarves that are different from the cliche setting.
Dwarves in Elderscrolls also known as the Dwemer (Deep-Elves) in the elven language. Are just elves that live underground and excel in engineering. They aren’t fantasy dwarves in the way you are thinking.
