There is a character in my story who is a god of time. Though it is technically without gender it splits into two separate forms. one being male and the other being female. I don't think this would count as gender bender but a friend of mine disagrees. What are your thoughts?

Honestly, I’d pick the non binary protaganist tag if I were you. Since their pronouns can be she/he depending on which form but if you were to actually pick a tag to describe your characters gender identity… gender bender doesn’t fit well.

When people search up gender bender, I think they look for more traditional methods like “I was a girl but I’m now a guy?!”. And then sprinkle some BL or GL and that’s (maybe?) a typical gender bender story. Make it simple and don’t stress it. Add the gender bender one if you want though, since the more the merrier. Good luck! :blob_salute:

Splitting into two isn't GB.
I figured as much. My friend just kept insisting it was so I was questioning it.

I thought so. I don't think I'll be adding the gender bender tag. I just wanted to ask so that I could prove my friend wrong.

If you go gender bender and put gl/bl I quite literaly think in my head you can change the things gender to be not gay but then you don’t get that audience :)

It sounds like your friend really wants it to be GB regardless of the voice of reason. You can ask your friend a question. Does splitting equal bending?

I asked and they said that it does and doesn't. At this point, I just think that you're right and they want it to be GB regardless of reason.

Does going from one person to two counts as GB?
i wouldn't say so, but they didn't turn into two people, they got two bodies and if one of them stayed the same then there could have been an argument but since both are s change it dosn't matter

That is difficult to say. But technically they are the same being, right? If they are then they are GB.

I haven't said anything about genders. I asked if act of splitting into two counts as GB.

It just happened once with the one character. after turning into two forms the male form was killed so returning it back to its genderless state is impossible. though it was a natural occurrence used as a way for the character to make sure that at least a part of it survived an encounter it wasn't sure it could survive. that way time could continue flowing as it is the god of time.
