Do you sometimes lose track of something after missing out on it for a day (or 16?)

Like, for example, there’s this thing you like, but then you accidentally end up going to the hospital for 16 days and when you come back, the fandom is completely different from what you remember. And then something else happens and then there’s too much to remembe/keep track of so you lose motivation to keep track and then the things the fandom says are sooo interesting but by then you’ve forgotten most of it and you’re basically an outcast. Does that happen to you? It does to me.

Oh, that was me with Fortnite :blobtaco:

It was for three years, and by the time I got back, the game was entirely different as I remembered it.

Yes,
Lots of things have happened that way for me.
Games I have played over the years, then come back to.
Some fanfictions I was reading, sometimes it is not me being away, but the author not having wrote anything for awhile.
TV Series where you missed an episode.
Anime.
My job  when I have been on vacation with no news from it for a few weeks.
My Favorite parks.

Anime fans used to be kind and sweet. And alot of them. It was just fun. Now anime had become politic due to some annoying people

If a story goes for more than two weeks without an update I usually forget all the characters and plot lines and have to decide if it's worth re-reading from the beginning to catch up. Usually it isn't so I just stop reading.

I would like to acquire this skill of forgetting things, so I can re-read my favorites and be in suspense.
