i'm still trying not to cringe whenever I read my old shit. I'm working on it, though.
*hugs* Comrade!
Well, I won't say it's a proper ending, but I consider it more of a "one-season anime" ending with closure.

Wherein there is still potential for more plot points later, and we left it on a slight cliffhanger. However, the conflict at hand and all related plot points got wrapped up normally and I'd like to say decently enough.
Seems good enough to me! \(^^)/

Not really. A writer's ability to write better may increase as he/she writes more. Naturally, if you go back to one of your older works, you'll probably just cringe at what you wrote.

You can see it as an improvement and the fact that you're now able to have a better perspective on things that you couldn't before.

I proofread my stuff sometimes to see if it's funny in any way, but I don't really believe that's the best way to know if my stuff is good to publish, because I literally go, "Hehehehe, funny penis."

I think that's more because my sense of humour is actually incredibly stupid, and I'm usually to lazy to read my own stuff most of the time and more enjoy the creative aspect of writing.

I see the opposite side of this. I'd rather my past work be revised with fondness than cringe. The cringe is just one part of the growth, the fondness is the emotional maturity that comes with it. Instead of trying to run away from the past as much as possible, I'd rather embrace it as part of the journey. I wouldn't get to where I am now WITHOUT appreciating what I've done then to get to said point.

Plus, it's a kind of down-to-earth tactic to keep me humble. Shit then, still shit now, which means I have a lot of room for improvement.

Don't kill what makes you cringe, kill the part that makes you cringe.

I reread as I am currently editing the thing. So its less a reread and more an edit. If I truly re-read, I might freak out and wonder "WHAT WAS I THINKING!"

However once Im done editing and uploading. I would go back to it to re read as an actual reader. Who knows, maybe its better than I thought
