For me, I don't really think about it in advance. I try to give myself space and try to not worry about it.

If I start writing and getting stressed out, then that's not good. You have to just let the flow. Sometimes, you don't know what's going to happen and that's okay.

I plan out story-outlines or chapter/volume summaries to keep me on track with where I'm going. However, while I'm writing, I forget the script and can take it in other direction.

I suppose you could say that I do both, really.

I do world building lot more than I probably should, usually in an important class that I should pay attention. Most of the time, I have the main events, and ending on my head, and, know where will be the next step will be, but I go wild when it comes to in betweens.

I have an idea of what I want to put in each chapter. Sometimes my brain has other plans though and extra stuff gets added, stuff gets bumped to the next chapter etc..

Having a plan is good, but I think it's important to be flexible too.

I do a bit of both. Though, I should do more planning because I realize the more I write, the more plot holes I create.

whenever i get an idea for something (it can be as mundane as an action scene , a flashback ,a new yandere character , yandere shticks) id like to include in my story i always make outlines in a word file (since its quite easy to forget )with keywords like serial killer yandere , milf schemer , a bar brawl on the first day etc . That makes it pretty to foreshadow stuff too and then as i am writing a chapter i look through those keywords again and decide if they'd work better with the current pacing or if they are better as foreshadowing for the future . It really helps me since most of the story i am writing is dialogue and banter heavy .

I mostly write as I go, but occasionally I'll plan something out.

I usually start with a barebones plot outline and then see how the story takes me toward those plot points that are essential to the overarching story.

Its kinda complicated, really..

When it comes to laid back projects, I plan as I go and things come out smoothly. If it a bit more complicated as a project and some world building is required I have the habit of filling little notebooks (thousands of them honestly) with anything from drafts, notes to sketches and random names that seem appealing with the theme..

I just write as I go, like the butt-stabbing piece of fluff that I am.
