Do you listen to music when writing?

Does music help in writing? Like listening to something epic when writing a fight scene or something soothing or upbeat when writing a romantic scene? Or just music in general... i personally like listening to lofi when i sit down to write.

Yes, and when a song is inspiring a particular scene I like to slip a reference to the lyrics into it as an easter egg.

I listen to music, pretty much any genre at random so long as nothing is being sung in English.

I'm gonna listen to this when i write the next chapters for my story. About to finish the very first volume and this music sounds amazing... I'm no music connoisseur but this gives me the feeling of a new dawn after some dark time. Perfect.

Hell if I know. I've got one comment and no reviews. I do it for my own amusement mostly, but I think that even if you don't pick up on the reference directly it still acts as a kind of subconscious soundtrack if that makes sense? Like your brain registers the emotional connection to the song in a subliminal way? Or IDK, maybe I've got my head up my butt.

It's fun to try and slip them in though, like a little wink to anyone that catches them.

I find I write best when listening to music where I can't understand a word. That way the lyrics can't distract me. My favorite is Korpiklaani, though I've also been known to enjoy anime theme tunes and theme songs to french cartoons
