Yes. My dad taught me. He cooked for a frat house in university, and my mom was a charter member of a sorority, and that's how they met. Dad still does most of the cooking at my parents' house to this day. Mom brings in the money, though she's going to retire in a few years.

I've never made anything beyond stuff like cake but as long as you have the cooking tools it isn't really that hard. You just have to resist the urge to throw away the instructions and constantly look at them. Also read them once before you start cooking in case a later step requires you to do something a few hours before cooking or has you do something alongside an earlier step.
