I just moved into a new place and met my neighbor. His name is Jan Magyar. I honestly thought names like that only existed in textbooks or witness protection programs. Do people like this actually walk among us more than we realize? People like Hans Deutsch and Johny English.

Anyone else ever met someone with a hilariously generic name? What is the most NPC-sounding real name you've encountered?

Just to make sure people understand why it is extra generic:

Magyar is a pretty common family name. It literally means “Hungarian” if you want to translate it into English. It is as basic as you can get because that bloodline when deciding to choose a family name they went with:

- Welll… we are Hungarians so our family name will be… Hungarian. Done. Back to working the field as a serf.

As someone with a "foreign" name living in America (which doesn't even match my race) I'd much rather have a generic name. Got any recommendations that don't sound like "Bill Green" or "Sam Michaels?"

Also I once knew an "Ed Wong." It isn't super generic, but it is 2 syllables.

The Japanese were appropriating cultures before USB-C. They really were ahead of the curve. Its even funnier that most of these names look more Hispanic than American (which makes sense since it's a baseball video game. Let's go Mets!!)

Like, he should've just copied names from the credits of Men in Black II. It would've at least been accurate.

I once met a John Young. Not exactly John Smith but Young is a pretty common name in the US and John is a stereotype for a reason. So is Matt Luke and Mark. Bible names what can I say.

There's this human called @Iamnotabot and just by looking at it one can tell that the name belongs to a human.

Hungarians are my favorite Europeans. Because you aren't ancestorally, and you are causing sperparatist movements in your neighbors.

No, but I met two guys with the exact name. Same first name, same middle name, same surnames.

I also love Hungarians. OG peeps since the middle ages.

Also, there was this time I was enrolling myself at uni. Someone from my queue hit up a convo with me, and his name is Ronald G. Go. His parents are Filipino-Chinese, and I did happen to see his enrolment papers.

His full name? Ronald (First name) Ga (Middle name) Go (Last name). The word "gago" is equivalent to idiot in Flip language.

Maybe he's in a witness protection program. Who knows?
