the other day, i noticed a flaw in my plot, but i only noticed it AFTER i published the particular chapter. i guess this is why professional mangakas and writers have editors. does anyone here has an editor, or someone similar so that they could check your chapters for flaws?

The best advice to get editors is to find a community of writers to be a part of. It's a bit of a scratch my back I'll scratch yours deal - you read their chapters before they go live and they do the same with yours. It's that or paying up, if you want an editor that isn't already a friend of yours...

I try to be my own editor. External people are helpful but unless you use money, it's really hard to find long-time solutions depending on your release rate. And switching editors might help with "chapter internal" problems but most won't read 100 earlier chapters just to help you with your next one.

So before starting my new series I spent some time reading/learning stuff about editor questions and story structure in detail. With that at least the most glaring issues can be found myself before I throw out some giant plot holes...

I never bother editing my own work, otherwise I'd tear it apart and never be able to publish a chapter lol.

My husband reads the chapters before I post them, but he doesn't read quite far enough ahead to catch big plot holes.

I'm going off my own strength as an editor. I know some things are going to slip through, but it's fanfiction, so there's a lot less pressure. Maybe my managing director will catch those things and fix them up for me when we convert it to original fiction, probably about five years from now ?

I always have the ending in mind and create my story based on the goals of the end. If a plot hole occurs it's because I didn’t follow where my road was leading. It's a safety net and I constantly go back over my chapters to make sure there's no inconsistencies. But let's be honest, we're human and will make mistakes be it minor or major.

I remember watching a video on a famous writer who started the book with a blue eyed character and ended it with a green eyed one. She had plenty of editors but the reader is the the one who caught it. Minor, yes but it goes to show you that we all make mistakes.

I regret not having one for judging pacing, plothholes etc. I've asked a friend to help me out with future stories on that
As for spelling stuff, I use Grammarly as other people here too :'D

First I reread the stuff, then send it to a friend just so he can read from the language standpoint. It's kind of a rule for me to show someone anything I write before submitting it, be it work, classes, essays, reports. No matter how many times you'd read your own work, there will always be things that to your eyes feel correct or natural, and it takes someone just to look and read to catch the irregularities.

So, if you have someone with decent language skills and willing to help, it's a nice way.

I would recommend taking an online course or learning info on it so you can be your own editor. The ROI of learning is pretty high for an author
