I accidentally wrote a suggestive scene in a novel I didn't really plan to have sex or anything (probably got influenced by the smut miasma around Smut Hub). I plan to add one or two more, but it's not the focus of the novel. Even so, do I use the smut tag?

It depends on the scene. A link would help.

You should check the Sexual Content box, though.

Yes.
Cleanse the smut enjoyers by hooking them on a story that doesn't have a lot of it.
What an evil plan. I like it.
Most will get blue balled and I will have the most dropped novel in Scribble Hub history.

It's basically
Two girls make out and the other touches her no-no part
Two boys make out
Implied r*pe scene

Ok

It's basically
If that's how you describe it in story then no... Smut needs passion.

"Implied", anything that happens offscreen doesn't count, so that doesn't affect it.

The Mature genre is what you want. Adult if you go into excessive detail.

It's obviously that I didn't describe it like that, it's just a simplification
The r*pe is more subtle, I will not describe what is happening, only the feelings and dialogue.

It's really not -obvious that is. I've seen just recently somebody who wrote what you just wrote and called it smut.

That might still need the rape tag. Here's the definition.
This tag is to be used ONLY IF an important/significant-to-the-story character is raped OR doing the raping, at any time during the course of the story. Note that this tag is not to be used if (1) some character is hinted to have raped/been raped before the course of the story, or (2) the occurence is off-screen and doesn't involve any significant character.

That sucks. Sorry if I was condescending.

I don't know... People who like rape will search for it and don't understand that only happens in chapter one thousand instead of being a frequent thing.

Is there sex? If yes, smut tag. If no, no

People who don't like rape will also filter stories by it, and if they get to chapter 1000 and have it show up by surprise, they'll be very unhappy. At worst, you'll want to have a content warning at the start of the chapters where it shows up. It's easier just to have the tag though.

Just use the ecchi tag if it doesn't go past boob or accidental glomp stuff.
