I just jot down ideas and go over them from time to time. Sometimes those ideas turn out to be really cool and I end up using them in the story. Or I don’t. But usually, I see point A and point B, then I just write about what happens in between.
Though recently I did spend some time making a Google Sheets table, because Gerda’s world is pretty layered and I don’t want to lose track of some of the ideas I really like. It helps keep track of little hints scattered throughout the plotlines.
But sticking to a detailed plan? That doesn’t work for me. At best, it turns into a boring chore for my brain like being back in college. No thanks.
Sometimes the way I see events unfolding totally clashes with the character’s psychology and then… yeah, it gets complicated
So just figure out what works for you
