Over on royal road, I'm more of a business person than anything else, the community isn't terrible per se, but from my perspective, their forum is boring. I view it as nothing more than a preferred option to web novel.
Scribble hub on the other hand, well I'm a casual here. The forum is livelier, and the majority of my reader base is here, though I'll admit that originally, my story was only going to exist here.
But I'm a better writer because of the business deals I made on royal road, so yeah, no regret when it comes to that.

What's you guys' thoughts when it comes to these platforms?

I'm not talking about forums here, only main sites, and it's obviously my experience. RR is subpar at best, while SH is great.

I left RR a couple of weeks ago. Their forums are boring and (some of) their members have broomshafts up their arses. Much prefer it here. We take our work seriously but not ourselves. Aka a sense of humour.

RoyalRoad is full of...edgelords, I guess? Those who constantly complain for lack of diversity, yet pan the authors who do different.

ScribbleHub is for smutlords. I read before that some denizens of RR go to SH for their daily dose of smuttery.

But yeah, if you want better criticism, RR is better.

I hold very little experience with RR, so with the little experience I have, I can confidently say idk, :blob_cookie:

I very rarely visit RR, but from what I've gathered up to now I can say that on RR people gather to seriously read and discuss serious stories, while here people come more for fun and relaxation (no negative meaning attached) and smut, though the latter is not very visible on the forum, but in the stories.

I have only ever been to Wattpad and Fictionpress. Fictionpress was pretty dead even back in the day, with a very small community keeping the place for my genre (anime-like) alive. And we just end up reading each other's works, if any.

Wattpad was (comparatively) great like a decade ago when I was helping someone out with a story. The forums were decent, and the interface feels very fun and has the right amount of customization/flavor options (you can insert videos, photos, etc), those are what I care about the most anyway. But around half a decade ago, they nuked the forums, and getting readership has become a lot harder since the newest updates and such tabs are also gone.

Wattpad Community Forums – Help Center

That's their official statement. It apparently died just 2020? Felt a lot longer than that. Maybe I'm misremembering because I haven't touched a writing site of any sort since 2016 (which is when the story I helped someone with ended) It's probably the releases tab that got changed for the worse that time.

I googled it, says it was due to mismanagement.
