Do you ever delete chapters that you are deeply unsatisfied with? I'm on the third chapter of my new series and I'm deeply disappointed in what I wrote for the third chapter. I was thinking I should delete it now while the series is still young, but not sure how common this is among the site.

:meowsip:The more elegant way might be to rewrite it and pretend going forwards that there was never a change.

I rewirte them usually. In my main novel I currently rewrite chapter 5-7 new, since the old ones still fit in the narrative but I got better ideas for them now that I'm further in my novel.

It’s an amateur webfiction site, so people reworking their own stuff is pretty common! I do think if you want to change something you should probably do it before you gain any real traction, but try not to get into the habit of making major alterations often once you really get going; it sort of undermines a reader’s trust in the story

I completely rewrote my introduction chapter because it was dry.

Rewrites happen.?

I also don't have many readers or followers though, so if you've got people invested you might want to drop a note about it once you do what you need to do to fix it.

I re-write constantly; sometimes years after a story is finished. That's the terrible thing about being a writer, to me. You're never DONE. There's always something. Let me give you some advice: unless you really are having serious problems with a chapter, and it's okay as is, leave it alone and continue,. If you get too bogged down in what you've already done, it's going to murder your creativity to continue. ?

I rewrite any chs that don't feel right or could be better. Then I add it to my backlog and if future chs don't mesh well with the soon to be released CH then it gets edits and parts rewritten.

Granted the only time I ever deleted a CH was because my computer had shutdown and didn't save 90 percent of the completed CH.

If my writing is bad, I'll just rewrite it.

I deleted my first chapter, and moved small elements into the second. On reflection the info dump was unnecessary and not grabbing people.
