Greetings. I hope you'll always be in good health and everything is going well for you.

I've been on hiatus for writing, perhaps for almost one year and kinda want to write some fiction story again. But now I've been wondering how to start writing again because I need to reconfirm something about the preferences of the readers here. Hence, I'm making a pool so that I will continue based on that result.

My question is, which one do the readers want from the author between these two situations?

1. Reading a lot of chapters (maybe around 100-200 chapters ready to enjoy)

2. Reading a short story (around 4 or 5 chapters and it's finished) but if the readers find the potential of the premise, you want to see if the author could make it longer.

Thank you very much for your opinion. Your insight will be pretty useful for me.

Short stories tend to have fewer views and readers. Longer stories aren't guaranteed to be popular, but they're more likely to attract views and readers because they're worth binge-reading, especially for the long-form readers common on SH.

Personally, if I can get in when it's just starting and keep pace with it, I'm happiest, regardless of lenght.

I don't know what I prefer. As long as the story isn’t abandoned and the plot is nice, I read it.

I went on a year long break before returning to my story. It's picked up and even managed the number 15 spot on trending :blob_evil_two:

Finish what you already have, your fans will be grateful for it.

Both is good, but a finished story, even with only a few chapters, is better than a neverending or abandoned one.

The drawback of course being that few chapters won't give you much exposure on recent updates, and so won't draw in as many readers on their own.
