How important is an uploading schedule when writing a story? I used to upload every 2-3 days, and I got a good amount of views, but I have gone to a more irregular uploading schedule due to school and my hectic life in general. Does a good schedule determine whether your story does well or not? Any advice would be nice.

Yes indeed.
I mean schedule does matter a lot in the early stages of the story.
What readers want is, their story to be consistent.
Many readers wait to read a story till it reaches a specific amount of words. Cause they don't want to read a story that's eventually gonna get abandoned.
And also if you're consistent with a schedule it attracts the readers. they see your story in the recent updates section every time you update it. The more time they see the more they want to read it.

Well, it can affect the number of readers you might attract for a single day, or week, depending on how long you stop updating. Upload schedules are there if you have a backlog of chapters (which you can intentionally do, so you can write more before uploading), but you really can't help the situation where you'll run out of backlogs, and your story won't be uploaded for a long time.

I mean, this isn't your job; this is your hobby.

But, if your readers are aware of how you work, they can wait. An example of this would be my own experience. For six years, I've no 'regular' schedule of uploading and updating my stories, but my few readers know I will upload them sometime or later (no exact date, or pattern). So, they just wait until I finished the entirety of the work.

It would, however, help if we keep them updated via our status, which you can either post on your page, or within your chapters.
