Chapter Posting Schedules (Advice)

What do you think is a good number of chapters a week is?

I currently have 20 chapters written, 10 not posted at the moment so I'm 10 chapters ahead since I write a lot while listening to ezgeeky read LOTM.

What do you think is a good number of chapters to release a week without burning yourself out?

Especially for someone who has made a vow to make sure he writes least 50 chapters by the end of the month. (Which is me)

(Managed to prevent myself from writing down a new idea, which would have dragged me away from my current novel, keeping it at the back of my head)

Everyone has a different limit. My advice is to do 5.

Honestly, I think that one or two chapters a week is more than enough to release each week.

I don't know if you prefer being ahead of schedule or just happened to do so, but I intend to do just that for the story I'm currently working on (just started).

In my opinion, it just takes away the risk of actually feeling burnt out and gives me some time to rest whenever needed.

I do prefer to be ahead of schedule yeah. Like if I just so happen to feel unmotivated, I can just post the chapters I already have written. I realized during my time on Royal Road I HATE writing a chapter on the day it needs to be posted. Feels more stressful.

And yes, I am a maniac. I'm tired of dropping novels over and over. I want to finish at least one novel, even if no one reads it.

The one true answer is, reallistically, as many as you are comfortable posting. Which is a non answer, but either way you have to figure out what schedule works for you. Naturally readers will want as much as possible, so daily would be the ideal for them but I personally would refrain from dailies unless you have most if not all of the work ready and can maintain the scedule. You can get away with fewer chapters per week if said chapters are chunkier, the rule of thumb is smaller chapters = more uploads. Again there is no true correct chapter length, you do as much as you can. Keeping up with a consistent schedule is more important than spamming chapters.

I keep a stock of about 30 chapters ahead by average (otherwise I would be screwed during some periods of the year) so I can adabt well to my lifestyle and stuff goes over mostly without a hitch....mostly not always.

Posting everyday is the most optimal if you have an infinite backlog to hit the latest updates list. I currently only post 3 times a week on the weekdays if that helps.

WHen I started posting, I had at least ten chapters written for each story I put up. And I posted a new chapter whenever I was back up to +10 for a while. Then I started working again and facing other issues and fell behind a bit, and now ... well, Pocket FM has been getting everything for the last few months.
