Hi!

I am new to scribble hub and am wondering the best ways to get the word out about your book or have people read it? I have seen comments on reddit that self promoting is the biggest no-no but I am unsure how to get people to read my book without that? Do you just keep posting until people eventually come around or is the best way through tags?

Yes that's the only way and how everyone does it, just sit down and wait. Royal Road has ads though, so you can pay like $50 to buy an ad that lasts like a month of your book

You can also win ad slots via RR issued contests. Those are rare though.

You can review swap with others if you want to. Which basically means that you promote their book in your authors note at the end of your newest chapter and they do the same. This is fairly common tactic on RR, but on SH its fairly rare. It does work though. You just need to convince someone with a popular enough book. Hope I helped.

Thank you for letting me know! I appreciate it.

Self promotion is valid. Those that disagree failed so they want to bring others down.
I was lowkey thinking that hahaha

I'd rather people shamelessly plug their own stories on forums than the current trends where people swap shoutouts at random, effectively adding extra adverts to their chapters.

You got seen just from posting on the forum! You can even edit your signature to include your work! :blob_melt:

Tags, regular uploads, promotion on threads looking for it. There's lots of ways you can, but the return value varies heavily.

Good luck with your story ^-^

Also, you could start by putting your story in your signature.
At least if you promote on the forum. It won't help much, but every bit helps right?
True! I will figure out how to do that then get right on it!

Tags help but what I've noticed is that posting consistency is what works best in this site at least (I have no idea how webnovel, RR, Wattpad, etc. stories get popular). The people who post 2 to 6 chapters a week will get noticed more than the people who may or may not post 1 chapter every week or so. Having a large backlog of chapters and before starting to post is the easiest way to achieve this.

I also have no idea how people get readers on RR and Wattpad, I tried both and having definitely had the best luck on here. Thank you so much !

Let me reiterate, because I don't want you to get burnt out and end up disliking the process of writing. Its not that you have to be a full time writer doing it all day every day, but rather accumulate a decent backlog and release them slowly but surely as you make more on your own pace.
