I do speak from experience here :blob_popcorn: i love me some anime and martial arts fight scenes. Buuuut it doesn't translate as well on writing.

Trust me, I've tried! :blobrofl:

Love the fight, but good luck trying to write it down as a chapter.

Very difficult (but not impossible) to write in detail all the fast moves and reactions they have in that fight. Beautiful animation tho! :blob_aww:
I admittedly didn't read much of the thread. I just saw the fights posted about Naruto, and I agree.

I think I need to improve in writing combat scenes. The best way to learn is to observe the best and draw inspiration from them.
I would appreciate it if you could point out the best combat scenes in your opinion, preferably scenes that are shown rather than telled, but I'm not picky.
I would be grateful if you could also mention the chapter where the battle takes place. I am particularly interested in the scene.
Thanks in advance.
Godclad (Royal Road fiction). It has the best fighting scenes I have ever read, and it is filled to the brim with them. The author is a master of show and don’t tell, and the pacing of the fight is magnifique! The innovation of abilities are beyond compare. I’d point them out, but there are too many for that.

I really liked the fight scenes in reincarnated as a sword at least in the first few books.

Jnovels though do a much better job of keeping the pace up and not being too wordy. (based)

As far as writing advice, pairing actions with reactions is key.

Attacker 1 attacks attacker 2
attacker to responds this way.

Doing it like a play-by-post game makes it easier for readers to understand.

Good fight scenes are fast paced.

+active verbs
-talking
-internal monologue
-lengthy exposition.

Maybe an ability is really cool and needs to be explained why it is so cool but in the middle of a fight is not that time. This is why exp is awarded at the end of a fight.

This best fight scenes I've seen in novel format so far is from a book in Webnovel.

The martial unity, the fight scenes are good and the author really knows a lot about combat and it's mechanics
