I just got back from the hiatus hell. The procrastination hell, as I also call. I am now free but not gonna make chapters to my existing story.

Another tip to avoid hiatus and dropping.
Do you really want to involve yourself into the creation of this idea? I mean, do you really want it? Do you really want to write this idea, knowing the cons, such as spending your little free time for stacking up chapters and stuff.
Do you have the guts to write this story through the bitter road full of criticisms and troll rates? If you are, then use that determination. Never let new ideas sway you like how it happened to me.

sounds like the best way to avoid hiatus is to not bother writing in the first place.

i'm too lazy to have determination. i will just self-insert myself in my power fantasy story and forget everything, it's none of my fucking business.

Write really really far ahead when you feel inspired and then when on the down you can have the back log cover for you :blob_hmm_two:

Genuine question: Why do most people go on hiatus?

Is it to pad more chapters for your novel? Or is it because you ran out of ideas or burnt out?

Wouldn't adjusting your release schedule help you out of this predicament? Changing from multiple published chapters a week to just one a week will help avoid these problems...I never really understood authors that release multiple times a week unless they actually write full-time.

Perhaps I'm just ignorant in the matter, and I don't mind admitting that.

There are many reasons why one goes on hiatus. Demotivation can be a big cause for a hiatus. Maybe you reached a point in the story where you know how it goes but you're blocked and can't bring yourself to write it. Writing is all about the writer's mental state of mind. Sometimes your mood makes it so you want to write something completely different altogether as well. A completely different genre because you were inspired by something you saw or an emotion you felt and you want to encapsulate that moment in a story, but it doesn't fit into what you are writing at that moment.

Another reason is you may also see the growth your your fiction reaching a plateau as well and think maybe you went wrong somewhere in your story, but you don't get any sort of feedback that there is a problem. When there is also very little engagement from readers, even if you see views go up you may think people are just skimming through it and don't actually care to read it anymore.

There's also that annoying thing called life where shit happens like you lose your job or fall into depression and whatnot. But tldr.

Tsk tsk tsk, you really don't know. If you meet writers that has hiatus in their usernames like me, they (might) will always go on hiatus every 10 smth days months or years.

And besides, this name speaks to me.
