Average Chapter Devtime

With all proofreading, thinking what to write, procrastinating, etc. I write around 400-500 words per hour. Without, it can go as far 1000 words per hour.

How long does it usually take you to write a chapter? Say, 2,000 word chapter? Like 4 hours of writing time? 8 hours of effort?

500 words an hour, 30+ minutes to make a rough outline of what I want to happen in the chapter, and 10-30 minutes to proofread. So in total 5-6 hours if you don’t count the rabbit holes I go down while researching things when I write.

Never really calculate it. Depends on whether I have the outline of the plot in my mind or not. Probably around 500 words per hour on average?

My memory of writing before I gave birth is too vague to make those calculations.

I just wrote around 900 words in two hours, but I'm sure I spent most of that time staring into the void.

Takes about 6 hours for a chapter of 8k-10k of writing. Time includes me getting distracted, breaks, and randomly falling asleep. Add another hour or two of editing and then it's up.

Is the question: How long does it take to write a chapter? or to write a good chapter? From start to finish I average 2 chapters per week. I write 6 hours a day every weekday. Sometimes more. Each chapter is 1500 - 2000 words.
