How long does it usually take you to write a chapter? Say, 2,000 word chapter? Like 4 hours of writing time? 8 hours of effort?

I write roughly 1000 words/hour.

Editing time may vary from 5min of proofreading to quickly fix typos, to over an hour editing to re-write sentences and paragraphs that I didn't like.

Depends on the writer, but with enough hard work, you could probably write it in 2-4 hours

I could write 2k words in around an 2 hours. Editing however adds like 3 to 4 hours to that and increases the word count to like 2.5 to 3k words. Honestly writing is the easiest part editing is a ball ache.

If I'm inspired, I can write 1000 words in 20 minutes. If I'm not, it takes longer, at least 1 hour or more.

As for me? I develop a chapter that usually lasts for an entire day. It'd be a 4k-4.5k words/chapter on average, and the editing would take place once I finished the entire manuscript.

This is so that I can easily iron out plot holes and inconsistencies.

Same here, I'm also around 1000 words per hour, no matter how much or how little coffee I drink.

About the same for me too. If I'm really in a state of flow, maybe around 1000 words/45 mins. Although I usually max out at around 2000 words per day, with each chapter being anywhere from 1000-6000 words long. Though right now I've been pushing out smaller chapters for my newer story with some as small as 900 words.

2k in eight hours sounds about right.

Technically I can write 100 words per minute, but actually managing it is nearly impossible.

1500ish words + a rough Grammer check takes three hours if I don't get stuck. But if I do a rough draft, a full grammar check, a proofread, a second grammar check, and a final proofread it will take at least seven hours.

2,000 words? An hour.

How long to write an entire chapter(5,000+ words)? Hour and a half if I'm in the best of moods. Two hours if I get distracted.

How long to completely edit my chapter and make sure everything lines up perfectly plot wise, grammar wise, and enjoyment wise? Literally impossible to calculate cause I have perfection issues.

Depends on how I'm feeling and if I don't procrastinate. There is also what I want in a chapter which could increase the time in planning.

It takes me 3-4 days to develop, organise, and finalise the scenes in the chapter and all pertinent points that need to be addressed\discussed. then about 1-2 days to write down about 5k words.

Depends massively on motivation and how bad my depression is at the time. I can do 2k in an hour, or it can take two weeks. Unlike many others, I don't edit my chapters, though I do have someone else go through and point out any issues for me to fix, typically 3-5 per chapter, and often only preference issues, so it takes just a few min longer than writing time to get the chapter ready to post.

On average 6 hours minimum, and planning a good battle arc , 2 or 3 months

But my case is a bit particular, English is not my native language.

I am also writing a novel with a fairly heavy Lore, an important background for the characters, their relationships as a close-knit family despite their differences, as well as the same level of detail for their enemies.

and to top it off, it is also a pretty heavy military plot. There are several factions with backgrounds and motives. Every major battle is somewhere in the real world, with place names, important objectives to complete and their objectives, strategy discussions, unexpected things, and trying to be as realistic as possible (during the battles, at least). Things are so complicated that I usually like to accompany it with a map to better explain where everything is and where the teams are moving, so the reader doesn't get lost.

For example, this map is of a fictitious battle in New York that took me about 2 months to plan. The Empire (the enemies, red) launched an attack on the UN headquarters and the U.S. Army and the National Guard are trying to repel the attack. But they can't do it without air support, the problem is that the Empire has under control the central air defense center in new york and also has under control the power plants that feed them. So the Alliance (the good guys, Blue) must first take over the power plants, get them running, then launch an attack on the anti-aircraft defense headquarters in the Empire State Building, and finally after all that launch a real attack and rescue the people trapped in the UN building.

And well, all that required time

2000 words is usually around 1-2 hours for me depending on how motivated I am at the time. Then I usually take a break and edit it for 30 - 45 minutes after the break. Most of the time I already know what I'm going to write but if I don't then it's 2000 words in 3-4 hours. It just takes practice.
