Long story short, I searched high and low on this site, but then I had a sudden idea. Why go through the trouble of searching for stories when I can have them served to me on a silver platter?
That's where this delightful forum comes in: I've got all the authors I could want right at my fingertips, hohoho.

So here's my request: authors, please recommend your stories to me. Yes, I'm asking people to promote themselves, isn't that great?
I just want something to read. And maybe this could help other forum members who are also looking for something to read!

I only have five chapters up so far but I hope you’ll still consider mine! Mines a fantasy adventure with horror and drama elements involving four dryads going through a spooky forest to escape an Archfey’s wrath. It queer slow burn romantic subplots (gay best friends to lovers*, lesbian enemies to lovers) though the chapters up currently only touch on the dynamics of the first but the next few chapters will turn the focus on the latter!

(And yes I know it looks weird to have ‘The’ capitalized but the forest is quite literally called The Dark.)

Somewhat of a curve-ball considering the other recommendations in this thread, AURA: the souls true nature is about Ymeno who tries to live as boring a life as possible while still internally struggling with memories of the past and lamenting the fact he does not have the story's power system, an aura. He meets a few people along the way whose actions convince him to open up more and do something with a life he thought was already wasted. The city the man lives in is also controlled in the background by 20 gangs who all bow down to 4 people they call Gods.

Part 1 is finished, currently writing a substory about one of the side-characters which becomes important for part 2.

I have two you can work with. One of them: Transcendence: Flesh and Chitin is complete but in a rough draft stage. Essentially a human-insect hybrid used as an experiment to see what race is best at dominating the world, is brought to life and let known that he is expected to consume and conquer everything. He grapples with his humanity and his insectoid nature. Did I mention it's all a virtual reality game? That's not all, his unique nature allows him to trap people in the game, unable to log out, drink water, go to the bathroom. If you die to the MC, you risk dying in real life. (no smut, this info will be important when you read the second novel's description).

Second story, an ordinary man dies under mysterious circumstances and is given the task of bringing about the apocalypse on this pristine world. The goddess of death turns him into a parasitic worm that can invade creature's brains and demands that he do whatever he can to bring balance to the world and make a bunch of people die in the process because everyone is living too long and it's fucking with her. Speaking of fucking, they do that, a lot. It's a smutty novel that jumps between intense sex scenes and a struggle to survive as the MC dominates new hosts and gains power in the hope that he can finally have a real life. Just wait till he gets a human body, it will get even more smutty from there.
